(TVU) – On April 17, 2022, Tra Vinh University holds the 1st Chemistry Olympic – TVU in 2022 for students in grades 11 and 12 studying at different high schools inside and outside Tra Vinh province.
The competition is a useful playground for high school students
The competition is organized with the motto “Bringing quality learning opportunities to the community.” It aims to create an academic playground for exchanging professional knowledge and experiences among students and teachers of different high schools and Tra Vinh University in the field of Chemistry and supporting career counseling for students in their future job making-decision.
Up to now, the competition has received registrations from 21 high schools in 5 provinces of the Mekong Delta, namely Bac Lieu, Soc Trang, Vinh Long, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh. The participating schools include Vinh Xuan High School, Tan Quoi High School, Hoang Thai Hieu High School, Huu Thanh High School, Tra On High School, Hoa Binh Secondary School & High School, Trung Vuong Secondary School & High School, My Huong High School, Tran De Secondary School & High School, Phu Tam High School, Hoang Dieu High School, Bui Huu Nghia High School, Nguyen Thien Thanh High School for the Gifted in Tra Vinh, Luong Hoa A Secondary School & High School, Pedagogical Practice School, Cau Ngang B High School, Tra Cu District Ethnic Boarding Secondary School & High School, Nguyen Van Hai High School, Duong Hao Hoc High School, Nguyen Trai High School, Bac Lieu High School for the Gifted. The number of participations is 29 teams, with 116 contestants.
Various competing forms
Each school has at least one team competing in the competition. Each team consists of 4 students, of which 02 students will take the theory test individually, whereas the other 02 students (1 group) are taking the practice test. The competition, including theory and practice, will take place simultaneously. The theory test consists of 100 multiple choice questions (accounting for 80%) and 1 constructed-response question (accounting for 20%). The total time for the theory test is 120 minutes. The practice test consists of a multiple-choice section with 20 questions on working principles and basic techniques in the laboratory and 02 experiments selected by the organizing committee based on the competition rules. The total time for the practice test is 90 minutes. The answers are built on a 20-point scale.
