Tra Vinh University’s art ensemble captures the top award at the third Kinh-Khmer-Hoa Folk Arts Festival, which concludes on April 24 at Tra Vinh Provincial Cultural Center. The university team wins the overall first prize, along with four category A prizes and two category B prizes for their meticulously choreographed performances that showcase cultural identity, creativity, and social responsibility.

The festival runs from April 21 to April 24, 2025, attracting nine participating groups including 8 districts, towns, and Tra Vinh University, with 63 performances and over 300 performers, artists, and musicians taking part.
Each participating group presents a comprehensive art program lasting 30-45 minutes. The performances feature distinctive cultural elements that introduce traditional aspects (folk, classical, and modern) of the three ethnic communities: Kinh, Khmer, and Hoa.
Tra Vinh University’s art ensemble includes 79 lecturers and students who perform under the message “Unity – Love and Development” with various performances: the song and dance “Calligraphy – Vietnamese Language – Red Blood Yellow Skin – I Love,” the solo dance “Mother Loves Child,” the independent dance “Harvest Season,” the traditional Khmer instrumental ensemble “Festival Echoes,” the classical Khmer dance “Leaksmi Botum,” the Hoa ethnic solo “Ocean Floor,” and the group song and dance “Tra Vinh University Pride, Toward the Future.”
Ms. Nguyen Mai Nhu Ai, Deputy Leader of the art ensemble, explains that the festival helps preserve and promote ethnic cultural identities through distinctive artistic activities of the three ethnic groups. It creates opportunities for staff and students to exchange, learn, and strengthen mutual understanding between ethnic communities, reinforcing solidarity.
The festival also demonstrates Tra Vinh University’s commitment and responsibility in participating in cultural and artistic activities organized by Tra Vinh Province, while highlighting its role as an educational center that preserves local traditional culture. It provides a healthy, beneficial platform for staff and students, enhancing their spiritual life and building a dynamic, creative campus environment rich in cultural identity.
At the conclusion of the festival, the organizing committee awards nine program prizes and 40 performance prizes to outstanding groups and individuals. Tra Vinh University’s art ensemble excellently wins the program’s A prize, including: A prize for the solo dance “Mother Loves Child”; A prize for the classical Khmer dance “Leaksmi Botum”; B prize for the independent dance “Harvest Season”; A prize for the group song and dance “Tra Vinh University Pride, Toward the Future”; B prize for the song and dance “Calligraphy, Vietnamese Language, Red Blood Yellow Skin, I Love”; and A prize for the traditional Khmer instrumental ensemble “Festival Echoes.”
