The Taekwondo Championship 2020 in Tra Vinh province took place from August 4 to August 7, 2020, attracting the participation of units from districts and towns in Tra Vinh province. The Taekwondo Team of Tra Vinh University consists of 16 athletes led by Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Head of the Taekwondo Club.
In the competition, Tra Vinh University athletes competed with 19 contents, in which, men’s individual fighting included weight classes below 35kg, 38kg, 41kg, 44kg, 47kg, 50kg, 54kg, 58kg, 63kg, 68kg and over 68kg. Women’s individual fighting includes kinds of weight classes below 42kg, 45kg, 48kg, 51kg, 55kg, and 59kg. Team competition includes men’s team 270kg and women’s team 240kg. Standard fighting matches include men’s individual fighting and women’s individual fighting.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tho, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Youth Union and the Chairman of the Student Association of Tra Vinh University said: Every year, the TVU Taekwondo Club regularly participates in the competitions inside and outside the province. It is an opportunity for students to compete, accumulate, and learning experiences from each other. In addition, the competition is also an opportunity for students to test their abilities, improve their practice levels, and get ready to participate in upcoming competitions.
This time, the TVU Taekwondo team excelled at bringing back 02 gold, 04 silver, and 07 bronze medals.
