TVU teams shine at MECA 2025

TVU – The finals of the Mitsubishi Electric Cup Automation 2025 (MECA2025) take place on July 12, 2025, at HUTECH University in Ho Chi Minh City. Organized by Mitsubishi Electric Vietnam (MEVN), the competition gathers 21 teams from 14 universities across the country—an increase from 20 teams and 13 universities in 2024.

Participating universities include: Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), Thai Nguyen University of Technology (TNUT), Hung Yen University of Technology and Education (UTEHY), University of Transport Technology (UTC), Hanoi University of Industry (HAUI), Danang University of Technology (DUT), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE), Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH), Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), HCMC University of Technology (HUTECH), Can Tho University (CTU), Tra Vinh University (TVU), and Thuy Loi University (TLU).

The competition features two rounds: an initial model presentation round, followed by a final round where six selected teams deliver in-depth presentations and participate in a Q&A session. The judging panel then selects the top three teams and presents additional awards in categories such as Outstanding Design, Innovative Solutions, Best Performance, Eco-Friendly Solutions, and Community Impact.

This year’s MECA highlights creative, practical smart technology solutions addressing real-world challenges. Tra Vinh University participates with two teams: S-EAGLES, presenting an automatic coconut water and pulp separation machine, and TETRAFUN, showcasing an automatic cốm dẹp (flattened sticky rice) making machine. Both projects draw inspiration from local needs and receive high praise from the judges and organizers for their practicality and potential for real-life application.

The first prize goes to the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) for their automated electronic component mounting machine using Surface Mount Technology. TVU’s S-EAGLES team wins the Community Solution Award, while TETRAFUN earns an Encouragement Award in recognition of their innovation and dedication.
