(TVU) – On September 25, 2024, the College of Khmer Southern Language – Culture – Arts and Humanities (CLASKA), Tra Vinh University, organizes the “Excellent Pedagogical Skills” Competition for 2024 – 2025.
The event is attended by Dr. Ngo So Phe, Principal of CLASKA; Dr. Phan Thi No, Dean of the School of Education, CLASKA; Mr. Pham Quoc Khanh, Deputy Head of Student Affairs Department; Mr. To Hoang Tuan, Deputy Head of Academic Affairs; Ms. Bui Thi My Chi, representative of the Center of Excellence in Learning Resources and Innovation, and lecturers and 461 students from early childhood education, primary education, and literature pedagogy programs.
Speaking at the competition, Dr. Ngo So Phe, Principal of CLASKA, states: The “Excellent Pedagogical Skills” Competition is an annual activity of the School of Education, receiving attention from the school leadership. It aims to form and assess students’ abilities and awareness of the profession, enhance professional consciousness, nurture love for the profession, and improve teacher training quality to meet society’s employment needs for pedagogical students.
Dr. Phan Thi No, Dean of the School of Education, shares that the competition is an opportunity for students to demonstrate the skills and knowledge they have learned and practiced in the classroom and is an occasion to honor the noble mission of the teaching profession. This profession nurtures future generations of the country.
“We, as educators, always hope and expect that through this competition, students will become more confident in their pedagogical skills and better understand their role and responsibility in the education career. On this occasion, the University evaluates the training quality, making appropriate adjustments better to meet society’s increasingly high demands and requirements,” says Dr. Phan Thi No, Dean of the School of Education.
This year, 10 teams of final-year university students from early childhood education, primary education, and literature pedagogy programs participate. Each team comprises five to six members and must go through various competition content such as pedagogical understanding, handling pedagogical situations, teaching demonstration, public speaking, and a greeting section. Notably, the competition has specific content for each school training program: Designing literature teaching materials for the literature pedagogy program, Blackboard writing competition for the primary education program, and Storytelling competition for the early childhood education program.
Lam Gia Han, a student from the Primary Education C class of 2021, expresses: “The competition is a beneficial exchange activity that helps us share professional experiences, prepare well mentally, practice skills such as teamwork and situation handling skills,… to perform like a real teacher and impress the Jury. The competition is also a practical training environment, helping me learn and overcome my shortcomings to prepare for my future career path.”
At the end of the competition, the Organizing Committee awards the team prize in the pedagogical understanding section to the Primary Education A University team, the best overall team prize, and the team prize in the pedagogical situation handling section to the Primary Education B University team of 2021; awards 7 First prizes and other prizes to contestants in individual competitions on teaching demonstration, public speaking, blackboard writing, storytelling, and designing literature teaching materials.
On behalf of the competition organizing committee, M.A. Nguyen Thi Hoang Yen, Vice Dean of the School of Education, highly appreciates the quality of the contestants and teams this year. The contestants and teams prepare meticulously, invest a lot in each competition section, show elaborate staging, creativity, and flexibility, and apply learned knowledge to practice flexibly, especially the confidence shown in public speaking skills before the Jury.
