“Ươm mầm xanh tri thức” program has been established since January 2014 by Tra Vinh University and Tra Vinh Broadcast Station with great contribution from sponsors including Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) in Tra Vinh, Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Sacombank) in Tra Vinh and kind individuals.
According to its coordinators, the program has been offering 320 scholarships to students with the total budget of over 1.1 billion VND. The beneficiaries have been students learning at Tra Vinh University and high schools, facing income and health problems but having strong will to go through the obstacles and pursue their studies.
Tran Thi Thuy Trang, TVU student said: “It is my honor to receive this scholarship. I sincerely give my big thanks to Tra Vinh University and the sponsors. This financial source is going to be spent on tuition fees and books. I also hope that this program will continue to maintain to help more students.”
In spite of being students, the beneficiaries are breadwinners in their families and they need to work very hard after classroom hours to get meager income for their whole families’ food and medicine. Seeing the great meaning of these scholarships to students, Tra Vinh University continues to call for contribution and funding from individuals and organizations to help the poor students to pursue their learning dreams.
