TVU – On January 13-14, 2024, the Vovinam Sports Team of Tra Vinh University participated in the 3rd Expanded Vovinam Student Tournament in 2024 at Vinh Long University of Education and Technology. The tournament attracted over 200 athletes from participating units.
The Vovinam Sports Team of Tra Vinh University consists of 05 athletes led by Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, Head of the Vovinam Martial Arts Club.

This year’s Expanded Vovinam Student Tournament has 11 participating universities and colleges including Vinh Long University of Education and Technology, Tra Vinh University, Western University of Construction, Cuu Long University, Can Tho University, Nam Can Tho University, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Can Tho University of Technology, Vinh Long Campus of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, Vinh Long College and Vinh Long Vocational College.
Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, Head of the Vovinam Club, said: “The tournament is a healthy playground for students, contributing to promoting the sports movement, improving health, training the body, and an opportunity for exchange, building and introducing the image of Tra Vinh University’s Vovinam Martial Arts Club to outside units.”
Achieving a gold medal in the women’s 51kg weight category, student Truong Phi Nhung, a 2021 Veterinary Medicine C student, shared: “When I won the gold medal at the tournament, I was very happy because the coaching staff and the university created conditions for me and my friends to exchange, learn and share experiences with other units. That is the foundation for us to try harder in upcoming tournaments.”
At the end of the tournament, the Vovinam Sports Team of Tra Vinh University excellently brought home 01 gold medal and 02 bronze medals.
