Workshop on “Student Entrepreneur Talent” competition at Tra Vinh University

(TVU) – On February 19 – 20, Tra Vinh University cooperated with the Management Board of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Projects of Tra Vinh Province (Tra Vinh SME Project) to organize a workshop on the competition “Student Entrepreneur Talent”.

In the workshop, there was the attendance of Ms. Huynh Hong Mai, Deputy Director of the Center for Innovation – Startup Incubation of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, a member of the Southern National Startup Advisory and Support Council; Mr. Nguyen Van Vu An, Director of Center for Innovation and Startup, Tra Vinh University, and more than 300 students of the university.

The workshop aims to inspire and share experiences for students who have startup ideas and projects to participate in the startup competition,  inform students on rules, forms, and detailed instructions on how to write ideas/projects to participate in the “Student Entrepreneur Talent” competition. The competition is organized for students of Tra Vinh University, who have startup ideas/projects in production, business, and service provision in economics, law, agriculture and fisheries, engineering and technology, tourism, applied chemistry, culture, art, etc.

In the workshop, Ms. Huynh Hong Mai shared her practical experiences related to startups, including the reason why students should start a business; the advantages and disadvantages between starting a business and working as an employee; successful startup models of domestic and foreign students; canvas business model (oil painting); what students need to prepare before starting a business; other related knowledge on innovation, or innovation startup journey and models, thinkings, or business ideas from all aspects of life; and solving problems with profitable purposes in terms of superiority, originality, novelty, pragmatism, etc.

The “Student Entrepreneur Talent” competition aims to equip students with startup knowledge and skills and create conditions for students to exchange, learn and share startup ideas and projects, helping them incubate startups right from school time to put into practice when they graduate.

Contestants are students of Tra Vinh University who are interested in startup activities and have startup ideas/projects. Each team competes from 03 to 04 members. Students register to participate in the online contest via: https://forms.gle/skK1Khe4TzfVLSfY6 until 15:00 on March 21, 2022. The teams participating in the competition went through four rounds: the qualifying round will be held on March 25, 2022, at the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

The ideas/projects selected in the qualifying round will participate in capacity-building training before participating in the semi-final, such as the skills of teamwork, presentation, and pitching. The semi-final round will be held on April 22, 2022, at Tra Vinh University, and the jury will select 15 ideas/projects in this round.

The voting round will take place from April 24 to 27, 2022. The jury will select 07 feasible ideas/projects to the final round and 07 ideas/projects to participate in the online voting round on the Facebook social networking platform of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Tra Vinh University, through the link: https://www.facebook.com/startup.tvu. The calculation of points is based on the total number of likes, hearts, and shares.

The final round and prize award ceremony will be held on April 28, 2022, at Tra Vinh University.
