Tra Vinh University’s College of Medicine and Pharmacy recently held its first graduation ceremony of 2025, awarding degrees to 129 new doctors. The ceremony honored students from the Dentistry program’s 2018 cohort and second-degree Medical program’s 2020 and 2021 cohorts, marking a significant milestone in training high-quality healthcare professionals for the region and nation.
Distinguished guests attended the ceremony, including Dr. Nguyen Van Doi, Deputy Director of Tra Vinh Province Health Department, Dr. Le Ho Van Trang Nguyen from Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy’s Dental Prosthetics Department, and Dr. Le Hoang Hanh from Tien Giang General Hospital. Medical professionals from Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City and Nguyen Dinh Chieu Hospital in Ben Tre also joined the celebration.
Dr. Thach Thi Dan and Dr. Phan Quoc Nghia, Vice Rectors of Tra Vinh University, and Professor Dr. Ta Van Tram, Director of Tien Giang General Hospital and Dean of the College of Medicine and Pharmacy, represented the university alongside faculty members and the 129 graduating doctors.

Professor Dr. Ta Van Tram congratulated the new doctors for completing their challenging academic journey and overcoming numerous obstacles to achieve today’s success. He emphasized that these results reflect the students’ continuous efforts and the dedicated support from faculty and medical professionals. The Dean expressed hope that the new doctors will maintain medical ethics and continue developing their professional skills to meet the healthcare sector’s increasing demands in serving public health.

The Ministry of Education and Training authorized Tra Vinh University to train healthcare professionals in 2012. The College of Medicine and Pharmacy currently offers 21 programs, including 9 undergraduate programs, 2 master’s programs, 9 specialty level I programs, and 1 specialty level II program. The college currently enrolls 4,477 healthcare students.
Over more than a decade, the university has trained nearly 2,000 doctors, pharmacists, and healthcare graduates, with most securing stable employment after graduation. In 2024, the employment rate for Medical program graduates exceeded 90%, while Dentistry graduates achieved an 81% employment rate.
The university’s training quality continues receiving recognition through domestic and international accreditation programs. Several healthcare programs, including Nursing, Pharmacy, and Medical Laboratory Technology, have achieved AUN-QA standards, while the Odonto-Stomatology program meets the Ministry of Education and Training’s accreditation standards.

This graduation ceremony recognized 129 students, including 94 Dentistry students with a 96% graduation rate (12% excellent and 81% good grades), and 35 second-degree Medical students with 37% achieving excellent grades and 63% earning good grades.

Students complete their studies following strict regulations from the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Health, with close coordination between the university and healthcare practice facilities. Students receive professional knowledge and skills while actively participating in community activities such as humanitarian blood donation, free medical examinations, and health communication programs, demonstrating clear social responsibility and medical ethics.
These new doctors’ achievements continue affirming Tra Vinh University’s role and reputation in training quality healthcare professionals, providing a solid foundation for their career journeys and positive contributions to the community and healthcare sector.
