On April 23, 2025, Tra Vinh University hosts the 4th Congress of the Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association in Tra Vinh province, marking the re-election of Prof. Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh as Chairman for the 2025-2030 term. The event draws over 40 delegates, including representatives from provincial agencies, academic leaders like Associate Prof. Dr. Diep Thanh Tung (Vice Rector of Tra Vinh University), and members of the Association.
Prof. Pham Tiet Khanh highlights the Association’s achievements in fostering bilateral cooperation in education, trade, and cultural exchange during his previous term, emphasizing its role as a bridge between the two nations.
During the 2017-2022 term, the Association drives impactful initiatives, including scientific collaborations with Canadian institutions, cultural exchange programs, and scholarship grants for Tra Vinh University students. It receives multiple accolades, such as a Certificate of Merit from the provincial People’s Committee for advancing grassroots diplomacy and recognition from Tra Vinh University for supporting students with 12 million VND in scholarships. The Association also facilitates investment partnerships and technology transfers, strengthening Tra Vinh’s academic and economic ties with Canada.
Looking ahead, the 2025-2030 term focuses on expanding membership, organizing cultural events, and enhancing cooperation in social security and research. Key goals include recruiting 40 new members, establishing two branches, hosting annual Canada Day celebrations, and fostering partnerships with at least two international organizations. Prof. Khanh reaffirms the Association’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations, stating, “We will continue to build trust and create opportunities for mutual growth.” The Congress concludes with the election of a 17-member Executive Committee, solidifying Tra Vinh University’s central role in promoting global connectivity.
