To commemorate the 78th anniversary of Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 – July 27, 2025), on the evening of July 26, the Vinh Long Youth Union, in coordination with the Department of Home Affairs, organizes a candlelight tribute ceremony at three cemeteries of fallen heroes located in Tan Ngai Ward, Long Duc Ward, and Phu Tan Ward.

At the ceremony in Long Duc Ward, comrade Le Van Han, deputy secretary of the provincial Party Committee and chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Vinh Long province, attends alongside leaders from provincial departments and organizations, local Party committees and authorities, and families of the honored individuals.

Representing Tra Vinh University, comrade Nguyen Dinh Chieu—member of the provincial Youth Union Executive Committee, deputy secretary of the university Youth Union, and vice president of the Student Association—joins the event together with more than 500 youth union members and students from various units under the TVU Youth Union and Student Association.

In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, attendees observe a minute of silence, offer flowers and incense at the monument, and light candles of gratitude to honor the immense sacrifices of those who courageously gave their lives for national independence and unification.

In his remarks, comrade Nguyen Thanh Nha, deputy secretary of the Vinh Long provincial Youth Union, emphasizes the significance of the event in expressing gratitude to national heroes and wounded veterans. He calls on the youth of Vinh Long to uphold the spirit of dedication, actively contribute to national development and defense, and nurture a deep sense of patriotism and strong moral values.

Huynh Phu Quoc, a 2023 accounting major at Tra Vinh University, expresses heartfelt gratitude, highlighting the importance of remembering those who gave their lives for the country’s freedom. He considers the occasion a meaningful opportunity for the youth of Vinh Long—and especially TVU students—to carry forward the tradition of “Uống nước nhớ nguồn” (when drinking water, remember its source) and “Đền ơn đáp nghĩa” (honoring those to whom we owe a debt), as a sincere expression of respect for those who sacrificed for the homeland.
