TVU – From December 7 to 10, 2024, an expert team from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET) visits Tra Vinh University to conduct an external assessment of 3 undergraduate training programs: Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, and Civil Engineering Technology.
The expert evaluation team comprises Associate Professor Dr. April Chil Cheung (Team Leader), Dr. John Joseph Sammarco, Associate Professor Dr. Terry Evan Baxter, and Associate Professor Dr. Scott George Danielson.
Tra Vinh University’s reception includes Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Minh Hoa, Rector; Vice-Rectors; Advisory Council representatives; department leaders; Dr. Vo Phuoc Hung, Head of the School of Engineering and Technology; and faculty members from the three evaluated programs.
The ABET experts comprehensively evaluate the training programs based on organizational criteria, including teaching quality, faculty expertise, infrastructure, student support activities, and student learning outcomes. This assessment provides a foundation for continuous improvement and quality enhancement of the university’s educational programs.
Associate Professor Dr. April Chil Cheung highly commends Tra Vinh University’s thorough preparation for self-assessment and quality improvement. She expresses significant impressions of the university’s efforts in developing technology and engineering programs, highlighting the institution’s strong commitment to improving teaching quality and student support.
In the closing remarks, Dr. Vo Phuoc Hung, Head of the School of Engineering and Technology, emphasizes that this evaluation presents an opportunity to improve training quality and meet the increasingly demanding requirements of society and the labor market. The faculty remains committed to creating quality learning opportunities that equip students with essential knowledge and skills.
