Cambodian students at TVU participate in the 2023 Vietnamese Speech Contest

(TVU) – Cambodian students studying at Tra Vinh University on November 10 impressively win third prize in the preliminary round in the Southern region of the Vietnamese Speech Contest for International Students in 2023, which is held by the Ministry of Education and Training at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.Dr. Huynh My Phuong, Dean of the School of Pre-University, and Mr. Pham Quoc Khanh, Deputy Head of the Student Affairs Department, lead the TVU delegation to the contest. Participants include Seng Boramey and Nheb Davy, fourth-year General Medicine students from Cambodia studying at Tra Vinh University, foreign students in the Vietnamese pre-university year, Sean Senghorng and Long Usa, as well as the dance team taking part in supporting roles.

Ms. Bui Thi Luyen, lecturer at the School of Education, School of Southern Khmer Language – Culture – Arts and Humanity (SLASKA), oversaw directing the team and planning the main content under the theme “Tra Vinh University joins hands to bridge the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship” from October 8 to November 9.

Seng Boramey (from Kampong Cham, Cambodia) exclaims with excitement following the team’s presentation, “I am really happy that our efforts have shone on the stage of the Vietnamese Speech Contest 2023. That is the outcome of our teamwork, spreading the message of working together to strengthen the friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.”

Dressed in the traditional Vietnamese costume, Nheb Davy (from Kampong Speu, Cambodia) smiles and remarks, “This is the first time I have a chance to show my Vietnamese ability on a big stage. My four years of training at Tra Vinh University really gave me a wonderful experience.”

According to Dr. Ngo So Phe, Rector of SLASKA, “After receiving announcements about the contest, the TVU Board of Directors took particular attention to it and immediately instructed SLASKA to choose international students to represent TVU at the contest.” He emphasizes, “The Vietnamese Speech Contest for International Students 2023 by the Ministry of Education and Training is a helpful learning environment that aids in students’ acquisition of real-world experience and knowledge exchange, both of which are necessary for Tra Vinh University students to advance their public speaking and presentation skills in Vietnamese.”
