Deputy Minister of Health, Kingdom of Cambodia visits and works at Tra Vinh University

(TVU) – On November 27, H.E. Ker Rotha, Ph.D., Deputy Minister of Health, Advisor of Chenla University, and delegates from Chenla University, Kingdom of Cambodia visit and work at Tra Vinh University.

The working delegation is welcomed by Mr. Tran Hoan Kim, Chairman of the Advisory Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, Chairman of the University Council; Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Diep Thanh Tung, Vice Rector and Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Vice Chairman of the Advisory Council, along with leaders of affiliated units.

The Cambodian delegation consists of H.E. Ker Rotha, Ph.D., Deputy Minister of Health, Advisor of Chenla University; Dr. Y Lima, Vice Rector of Chenla University and a working delegation from Chenla University.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, Chairman of the University Council, says: Tra Vinh University started training Cambodian students in 2012. The University has now trained over 100 Cambodian students in various majors, including health sciences. Many have graduated and returned to Cambodia to work in both public and private sectors. This is a great effort from the university, along with valuable support from the Cambodian government and people, including the Ministry of Health and Education, Youth and Sports. The University constantly improves and updates the quality of training programs according to international standards, pays special attention to international students to help them integrate into the TVU training environment, and increases job opportunities for students after graduation. The Chairman hopes that in the future the two units will have positive steps of cooperation and development.

At the meeting, H.E. Ker Rotha, Ph.D., Deputy Minister of Health, Advisor of Chenla University, said that Cambodia always pays attention to taking care of the health of the people and the community. Therefore, focusing on improving health services for people and training quality human resources in healthcare are among the top priorities of the Ministry of Health. Chenla University is a training institution related to Cambodia’s medical sector. The university always strives to improve human resources in the medical field for the benefit of the community.

The Deputy Minister hopes that the previously signed cooperation agreements between Chenla University and Tra Vinh University will be gradually implemented. Opportunities for research cooperation, student and lecturer exchange, and experience sharing between the two units will further strengthen the friendly relations between Cambodia and Vietnam.

At the meeting, Tra Vinh University reports on the enrollment situation and training of health science students at the university. The International Student Management Board at Tra Vinh University promptly supports accommodation and solves difficulties for Cambodian students studying and living at Tra Vinh University. The university organizes many cultural exchange activities during festivals, awards scholarships to international students, and many other activities to help Cambodian students integrate into the learning and living environment at Tra Vinh University.

At the meeting, the two sides discuss health sciences training programs, and plans to implement future cooperation, especially cooperation between Chenla University and Tra Vinh University in student, lecturer exchange, sharing of learning, teaching and research experiences, etc.

On the same day, the delegation visits and experiences Tra Vinh University Hospital, Faculties/Schools, units and tour attractions in Tra Vinh City.
