On July 30, 2020, the ceremony of admitting members to the Vietnam Farmer’s Union as well as the establishment of first TVU Student Farmer’s Union takes place at Tra Vinh University. This is the first Farmer’s Union established at the university and the members are mostly students.
The ceremony has the participation of Dr. Thao Xuan Sung, member of the Party Central Executive Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Farmer’s Union, together with the leaders of People’s Committee and the Farmer’s Union of Tra Vinh Province, TVU leader board, lecturers and students.
This is the first farmer’s union established at a university and its members are mostly students admitted to the Vietnam Farmer’s Union. The new model attracts students and young intellectuals to love their jobs, stick with their homeland and become “intellectual farmers” in the 4.0 period.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, TVU Rector said: “The idea of establishing a farmer’s union among university students is one of the great initiatives of the Vietnam Farmer’s Union and the Tra Vinh Famer’s Union, to gradually bring the young intellectual force back to agriculture, farmers and rural areas. Students have the opportunity to challenge and train themselves to become more mature and graduate, to be more confident with their knowledge and practical skills to help the family and society.”
The Vietnam Farmer’s Union has admitted 39 students who are studying Agriculture and Aquaculture and 5 lecturers of Tra Vinh University to the Vietnam Farmer’s Union.
Head of the Farmer’s Union of TVU, Ms. Le Thi Nghia said: “The Farmer’s Union of TVU has built charter activities, development plans according to the plans of Tra Vinh Farmer’s Union, trying to gradually meet the expectations of the Vietnam Farmer’s Union.”
On this occasion, Chairman of the Vietnam Farmer’s Union – Dr. Thao Xuan Sung congratulates the Farmer’s Union model at TVU. He asked the Farmer’s Union of Tra Vinh University to continue promoting the achievements of teachers and students in recent years, especially in developing agriculture and aquaculture of Tra Vinh province, the Mekong River Delta and the whole country.
