Exciting Ao Dai and Banh Xeo (Xeo cake) cooking contests at Tra Vinh University

(TVU) – On March 7, the Trade Union of Tra Vinh University organized the Ao Dai photo contest – “Beauty of the Past and Present,” and the Bánh Xèo -Making contest – “Together in the Kitchen,” to celebrate the 115th anniversary of International Women’s Day (March 8, 1910 – March 8, 2025). The event attracted more than 70 contestants, creating an exciting atmosphere honouring the traditional beauty and ingenuity of the school’s staff and employees.

The event had the attendance of Dr. Nguyen Thi Bach Van, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Tra Vinh Province, Head of the Jury; Ms. Le Thi Thu Hong, Head of the Propaganda – Legal Policy Department, Tra Vinh Provincial Women’s Union; and representatives of the Provincial Labor Federation. On the side of Tra Vinh University, there were Dr. Thach Thi Dan and Dr. Phan Quoc Nghia – Vice-Rectors of the school, together with the leaders of the grassroots Trade Union.

In his opening speech, Dr. Phan Quoc Nghia emphasized that the contest was an opportunity to celebrate International Women’s Day and honour traditional cultural values. The Vice Rector hopes that the contestants participate in the contests for the prize and their passion and spirit of collective solidarity.

      

The Ao Dai photo contest “The Beauty of the Past and Present” attracted 110 officials and staff in three categories: individual, pair, and group.

The contest ended with the individual A prize belonged to Nguyen Thi Thao Nguyen (Union Group No. 12); Duong Ngoc Bich and Nguyen Thi Ai Lan (Union Group No. 20) won the pair A prize; the group of Block 3 – Primary School (Pedagogical Practice School) won the group A prize. In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded 03 B prizes and 03 C prizes in each category.

In the “Together in the Kitchen” Bánh Xèo-making contest, 37 teams competed. Each team made five pancakes in 90 minutes. The judges scored based on the crust, filling, dipping sauce, vegetables, and presentation.

      

Ultimately, the First prize belonged to Trade Union No. 12. The Second prize was awarded to Trade Union No. 13, the Faculty of Agriculture and Fisheries Department Union, the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy Department Union, and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Department Union. The Third prize belonged to the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy Department Union and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Department Union. In addition, the Organizing Committee awarded 10 encouragement prizes and 22 movement prizes to the teams who performed excellently.

The contest brought a joyful and meaningful atmosphere on International Women’s Day, an opportunity for officials and employees at Tra Vinh University to exchange, connect, and spread good traditional values ​​together.
