Exploring social support models for women and vulnerable populations

(TVU) – On February 25, the Community Service Center and representatives from the Student Affairs Office, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, and the Local Trade Union of Tra Vinh University visited and explored women’s support models at the Centre for Women and Development (CWD).

Ms. Ngo Thi Tuyet Em, Director of CWD Mekong, shared the “Development of Women in the Mekong Delta” model and the “Peaceful Home in the Mekong Delta Region” model – a safe temporary shelter for women and children experiencing domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual abuse. These models help survivors restore their confidence, rediscover self-worth, and successfully reintegrate into the community. Additionally, the models provide livelihood support and vocational training for women, addressing one of the root causes of gender-based violence.

Ms. Phung Thi Phuong Khanh, Director of the Community Service Center at Tra Vinh University, expressed her impressions and high appreciation for CWD Mekong’s community support activities during the shelter support process while sharing potential future collaboration strategies.

The delegation also directly visited the Peaceful Home – a free vocational training office for women in difficult circumstances and an OCOP shop supporting and connecting products created by women entrepreneurs. These models help women transform their lives and contribute to strong and sustainable community development.

Tra Vinh University continuously actively connects free consultation channels in areas such as women’s and children’s rights, gender equality, prevention of domestic violence, human trafficking, sexual harassment/abuse, and violence against LGBTQ+ individuals through reliable channels to benefit women and children.
