(TVU) – In response to Vietnam Social Work Day on March 25th, the Community Service Center of Tra Vinh University is organizing a series of impactful activities under the theme “Spreading Love – Community Connection” from February 17th to March 25th, 2025.

The comprehensive program includes several significant initiatives:
Hair Donation Campaign: “Hair Illuminating Smiles – For Cancer Patients” runs from March 3rd to 11th, 2025, at Tra Vinh University’s Campus 1 and Tra Vinh Pedagogical School. This event aims to provide hope and support for cancer patients through symbolic hair donations.
A “Wishes from the Heart” greeting card design event will take place on March 18th in the Rectorate Hall, focusing on encouraging cancer patients through creative and heartfelt messages.
The “Compassionate Hat” program will distribute head coverings to cancer patients on March 24th and 25th at Tra Vinh Provincial Hospital and Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, providing comfort and support to those undergoing treatment.
A “Books for Children” initiative and a “Reading Together” program will be implemented at Tra Vinh Maternity and Pediatric Hospital from March 19th to 25th, bringing joy and educational support to young patients.

Open Letter: “Collective Hair Donation for Cancer Patients” – The university launched an inspiring campaign encouraging individuals to donate their hair to support cancer patients. This meaningful initiative aims to raise awareness and emotional support for those battling cancer, demonstrating the institution’s compassionate approach to community engagement.
Ms. Phung Thi Phuong Khanh, Director of the Community Service Center, emphasizes that these activities reflect the social responsibility of university staff, students, and faculty. The program aims to enhance the value and role of social work in community healthcare, demonstrating Tra Vinh University’s commitment to meaningful social engagement.

Free cataract surgery collaboration – In January 2025, Tra Vinh University Hospital collaborated with Ho Chi Minh City Eye Hospital and the university’s Community Service Center to provide free cataract surgeries for local residents. This medical outreach program highlights the institution’s dedication to accessible healthcare and support for underserved populations.
These activities highlight the university’s dedication to social support, community welfare, and compassionate service, embodying the spirit of Vietnam Social Work Day.
