In his opening speech, People’s Doctor Prof. Dr. Ta Van Tram states: “The 2024 annual international scientific conference is an opportunity for scientists, doctors, and experts in the field to share knowledge, experience, and new scientific research related to plastic surgery and general surgery, aiming to improve the professional quality of doctors and national healthcare services.”
The conference focuses on exchanging, discussing, and highlighting advancements in pathological surgeries, with 41 reports from Associate Professors, Doctors, and experienced experts. Of these, plastic surgery accounts for 4 sessions with a total of 26 reports on topics such as nose – eyes, breast-abdomen, facial plastic surgery, and aesthetic medicine.
During the discussion sessions, experts share many methods and technologies being applied in plastic surgery and dermatology, including Small incision blepharoplasty, fox eye surgery, rhinoplasty using Polycaprolactone mesh, 4D alar reduction surgery for Asian noses without scarring; updates on rhinoplasty in the Philippines; unforeseen complications in rhinoplasty; treatment of facial asymmetry with jaw surgery; “Double eyelid surgery” – Methods and post-operative care; flexible use of silicone cartilage in rhinoplasty; causes and treatment of 12 complications in facial thread lifting.

For the general surgery sessions, the conference features 15 reports on topics including Gastroenterology – Hepatobiliary pancreas and Thoracic – Cardiovascular – Orthopedics.
In the Gastroenterology – Hepatobiliary pancreas session, speakers focus on sharing treatment results, multimodal treatment methods for colorectal cancer with liver metastases; Initial results of transanal decompression tube in the treatment of intestinal obstruction due to colorectal cancer; Evaluation of medium-term results of non-surgical treatment of diverticulitis; Short-term evaluation of laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal mesh placement in the treatment of inguinal-femoral hernia; Long-term results of liver resection in the treatment of gallstones; Updates on intrahepatic bile duct cancer treatment; Laparoscopic surgery and intraoperative cholangiography in the treatment of common bile duct stones and gallstones; Initial neoadjuvant chemotherapy for stage T4 and metastatic colon cancer; Clinical and paraclinical characteristics and short-term surgical results in the treatment of umbilical hernia in patients with cirrhosis and ascites at the Department of Gastroenterology Surgery, Cho Ray Hospital.
In the Thoracic – Cardiovascular – Orthopedics session, scientists focus on sharing issues about robotic endoscopic surgery in lung cancer treatment, Chest injuries, Studies on clinical and paraclinical characteristics and initial results of anterior cervical discectomy and fusion at Nguyen Dinh Chieu Hospital, Characteristics of pediatric aortic pathology; Evaluation of vascular crack results in the treatment of urological diseases at Cho Ray Hospital; Results of total hip arthroplasty in the treatment of avascular necrosis of the femoral head at Tien Giang Provincial General Hospital.
