TVU – Tra Vinh University is significantly impacting the lives of underprivileged students in its local community by providing them with bicycles and other means of transportation.
On October 15, 2024, TVU’s School of Engineering and Technology implements the 2024 Skillful People’s Mobilization model. Mr. Duong Ngoc Van Khanh, a lecturer at the School, represents the benefactors and presents bicycles and gifts to students at Ngoc Bien Secondary School in Ngoc Bien Commune, Tra Cu District.
This initiative is part of the “Wish Wheels” program, which has recently mobilized funds and unused bicycles to be refurbished and distributed to students facing financial difficulties. The program aims to ensure that no student is left behind in accessing education.
The program has provided 37 bicycles, 01 electric bicycle, and 13 gifts to students at various schools. This includes 04 bicycles to Tran Phu Secondary School in Long Duc, Tra Vinh City; 09 bicycles to Minh Tri Secondary School in Tra Vinh City; 03 bicycles to Ward 5 Primary School in Tra Vinh City; 01 electric bicycle to a student at Tra Vinh University; 07 bicycles to Pham Thai Buong High School in Tra Vinh City; and 01 bicycle to a student at Tra Vinh Lab School.
Dr. Vo Phuoc Hung, Head of the School of Engineering and Technology, explains the program’s goal: “We aim to combine lecturers, teachers, students, and benefactors to bring means of transportation to school, creating conditions for students to come to school more conveniently.”
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang, a student receiving a bicycle from the program, expressed her gratitude: “With this bicycle, my distance to school and part-time work will be shorter. I am pleased and grateful, and I promise to study harder in the future.”
