On the morning of April 22, 2025, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tra Vinh province coordinated with Tra Vinh University to organize the scientific workshop “Building and Developing the Typical Value System of Tra Vinh Culture and People – the foundation for Tra Vinh province to develop sustainably” at hall E2.105, Tra Vinh University. The event attracted about 100 delegates to participate.
The workshop created conditions for managers, scientists, researchers, lecturers, students, and graduate students to have opportunity to learn, research, exchange, and share experiences on theoretical and practical issues mentioned in the book Building and Developing an Advanced Vietnam imbued with national identity by the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
The workshop had the attendance of Mr. Thach Phuoc Binh – Deputy Head of the15th National Assembly Delegation of Tra Vinh province; Mr. Pham Van Cuong – Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Mr. Kien Soc Kha – Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee’s Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; Mr. Duong Hoang Sum – Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Head of the Organizing Committee of the workshop; Dr. Thach Thi Dan – Vice Rector of Tra Vinh University, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the workshop; together with representatives of departments, branches and sectors; authors; scientists and researchers inside and outside the province.
In his opening speech and introduction to the workshop, Mr. Duong Hoang Sum – Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: “The workshop aims to continue implementing the viewpoints and objectives of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; at the same time, concretize Resolution 33 dated June 9, 2014 of the 11th Central Committee of the Party on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable development of the country; and clarify the theoretical and practical values โโin the book Building and developing an advanced Vietnam imbued with national identity by the late General Secretary.
Thereby, the workshop contributed to affirming the role, mission, and dedication of the Party to the revolutionary cause, helping cadres, party members, and the people in the province to deeply understand and arouse pride in the glorious Party, in the great President Ho Chi Minh and the cause of building and developing Vietnamese culture, arousing patriotism, national pride and determination to develop the country. This is also an opportunity to connect authors, researchers, and scientists from universities, research institutes, and management agencies at home and abroad.
The workshop’s presiding delegation included Mr. Kim Soc Kha – Provincial Party Committee member, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of Tra Vinh Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Duong Hoang Sum – Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tra Vinh province; and Dr. Thach Thi Dan – Vice Rector of Tra Vinh University.

The workshop received 57 presentations, all of which focused on the main topics, including the cultural character of Tra Vinh people, Tra Vinh cultural value system – tradition and change, and orientation for building and developing the value system of Tra Vinh culture and people.
Five papers that were presented at the workshop included: Promoting historical – cultural values โโin building life, building new rural areas in Tra Vinh today; A few words about “Tra Vinh people”; Tra Vinh city – rich in tradition and potential; Cultural character, people of Tra Vinh province; Typical cultural character of Khmer people in Tra Vinh during wartime.
Regarding the discussion, there was enthusiastic participation of speakers: Master Nguyen Thi Thu Suong, independent researcher Le To Nam, Mr. Thach Mu Ni – Deputy Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, Dr. Vu Thi Phuong, Master Nguyen Thanh Loi.
On this occasion, the Organizing Committee awarded certificates recognizing the active contributions of the authors to research activities.
