On June 21, 2024, at Tra Vinh University (TVU) in Vietnam, Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) formalized three new Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs) with TVU. These agreements include the International Conference on Research in Engineering and Technology (IRET), the Collaborative Online International Network (COIN) for teaching and learning, and the Language and Culture Summer Camp. Each agreement represents a significant advancement in both institutions’ collaborative initiatives. The International Conference on Research in Engineering and Technology (IRET) 2024 is a pivotal platform for scholars, researchers, and professionals to exchange groundbreaking ideas and innovations in various engineering and technology domains. Traditionally held at Tra Vinh University, this year’s conference, through the Memorandum of Agreement, will be co-hosted by Southern Leyte State University, led by the SLSU University President and the Vice President for Research Innovation and Extension Services, enhancing the conference’s reach and collaborative potential across various technological disciplines.
Moreover, the Collaborative Online International Network (COIN) for teaching and learning focuses on enhancing intercultural communication competence and global awareness among participants, improving digital literacy and communication skills across diverse student and teacher populations, establishing an online network and platform for academic exchange and collaboration and an international colloquium for Teacher Education Student Teaching Program. Furthermore, Language and Culture Summer Camp Program aims to boost language proficiency, cultural awareness, and personal growth.
The MOA signing at Tra Vinh University was attended by the SLSU team led by University President Dr. Jude A. Duarte. Also present were Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy, Vice President for Research Innovation and Extension Services; Dr. Ingrid M. Uy, Director of External Linkages and International Affairs; Dr. Marie Khul C. Langub, Director of Research and Innovation; Dr. James Brian Flores, Director of Quality Assurance; Engr. Julius of Paler, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, accompanied by Engr. Raymart Bulagsac; and the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Studies and Information Technology. From Tra Vinh University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Hoa, the TVU Rector, also attended with other TVU key officials.
