Spreading kindness: TVU builds homes and playgrounds for the community

TVU – On October 5, Tra Vinh University held a handover ceremony for a children’s playground and two charity houses in Tan An and Thanh Thoi communes, Vinh Long Province. This meaningful activity is part of the 2025 Summer Volunteer Youth Campaign, contributing to supporting disadvantaged households and spreading the spirit of social responsibility among students and faculty of the university.

The TVU delegation attending the ceremony included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Diep Thanh Tung, Vice Rector and Chief Commander of the 2025 Summer Volunteer Youth Campaign; Ms. Pham Le Phuong Thao, Secretary of the Youth Union and President of the Student Association; and Mr. Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union and Vice President of the Student Association. Representatives from TVU units, local authorities, and the beneficiary households were also present at the event.

At Tan An Commune, a charity house was handed over to a household facing housing difficulties. The project has a total cost of VND 150 million, of which TVU contributed VND 50 million, with the remainder funded by the family and relatives.

              

At the same time, a children’s playground was also handed over, aiming to create a safe and healthy space for rural children. The project, with a total cost of VND 15 million, was sponsored by the Victory Informatics and Foreign Language Center and Mr. Jerry Antonyk. Construction took place from July 25 to August 10, 2025, providing a space that meets the recreational and physical activity needs of local children.

At Thanh Thoi Commune, another charity house was completed and handed over to a family in extremely difficult circumstances. The project’s total cost was VND 70 million, of which Vietcombank – Ben Tre Branch sponsored VND 50 million through TVU’s fundraising efforts, with the remaining amount contributed by the family.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Diep Thanh Tung emphasized that this meaningful activity not only demonstrates the university’s care and support for the community but also helps students cultivate a sense of responsibility and compassion for society. He affirmed that Tra Vinh University will continue to play a pioneering role in community service and volunteer activities, accompanying local residents on their journey toward sustainable development.

This activity is among the university’s annual initiatives under its sustainable development strategy, reflecting TVU’s strong commitment to community engagement. It affirms the university’s role as an educational institution that not only focuses on training high-quality human resources but also places great emphasis on social responsibility and community service.
