Startup mindset in digital era

TVU – On October 2, the College of Economics and Law (CEL) of Tra Vinh University organized a seminar themed “Startup Mindset in the Digital Era” to equip students with innovative thinking and adaptive skills for the digital age. The event attracted nearly 200 students from various CEL departments, marking a positive start to a series of activities supporting student startups.

The seminar featured the participation and presentation of Dr. Phillip M. Adams, an Emeritus Professor with many years of experience in research and consulting on global innovation and startup development.

Representing CEL were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, Vice Rector; Ms. Ngo Thi Cam Anh, Deputy Head of the Office of Administration; and Ms. Diep Bao Anh, Officer of the Department of International Collaboration, along with faculty members from CEL’s academic departments.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Phillip M. Adams emphasized that in the booming era of artificial intelligence (AI), young people need to develop a modern startup mindset — one that is ready to take risks, proactive in learning, and adaptable to the ever-changing market and technological landscape.

The seminar focused on analyzing the opportunities and challenges faced by the young generation in the digital economy, thereby providing orientations on ways of thinking and acting to build innovative, effective, and sustainable startup models.

Dr. Adams particularly highlighted the role of AI in startups, encouraging students to engage early with tools such as ChatGPT to support their learning and scientific research with proper citation, as well as to apply them in developing business ideas. He also underlined the importance of staying ahead of technological trends such as AI and e-commerce, and of keeping up to date with the Government’s digital transformation policies to adapt to the constantly evolving business environment.

Students were guided on how to make effective use of available resources such as free advertising channels, potential customer data, and AI tools to cross-check and analyze information, thereby improving their work efficiency. According to Dr. Adams, AI is not only a tool but also an important catalyst that helps young people develop innovative thinking, understand market dynamics, and make efficient use of existing resources.

The seminar “Startup Mindset in the Digital Era” not only offered new perspectives for CEL students but also contributed to spreading the spirit of innovation throughout the entire university. Through this initiative, TVU aims to build a dynamic campus startup ecosystem where students are encouraged to experiment, learn, and develop business ideas aligned with global trends.
