TVU – On August 29, Tra Vinh University hosts a ceremony to mark the conclusion of the 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign. The event recognizes the outstanding achievements of volunteers during the summer and expresses gratitude for their significant contributions to community activities.
The ceremony is attended by notable guests, including Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Huong, Deputy Secretary of the Tra Vinh Provincial Youth Union, and representatives from various sponsoring organizations and local government officials.
Representing Tra Vinh University are Assoc. Prof. Dr. Diep Thanh Tung, Vice Rector and Commander of the 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign; Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Vice Chairman of the Advisory Board and former Vice Rector, and other key university officials.
The event also welcomes members of the Executive Committee of the University Youth Union, secretaries and deputy secretaries of affiliated youth organizations, and 46 volunteer soldiers who participated full-time in two communes. Additionally, 135 specialized team soldiers and representatives of over 3.000 part-time volunteers who joined the “Volunteer Saturday” and “Green Sunday” initiatives are present.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Deputy Secretary of the University Youth Union, highlights the impressive achievements of the union’s 6,792 members. The volunteer soldiers actively engage in various meaningful activities, from environmental sanitation and new rural development to community support and national defense.
Representing the volunteers, Mr. Son Ly Quy shares insights into the impactful summer activities. The volunteers actively participated in programs such as “Supporting the Exam Season” and “Green Summer,” assisting thousands of candidates during exams and constructing numerous projects in disadvantaged areas.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Diep Thanh Tung, Vice Rector and Commander of the 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign, acknowledges the students’ tireless efforts and contributions. Notable achievements include:
- Building a new charitable house valued at 40 million VND.
- Implementing rural solar lighting programs worth 80 million VND.
- Constructing and repairing rural roads valued at nearly 60 million VND.
- Providing bicycles and scholarships to disadvantaged students worth 50 million VND.
The campaign also formed 11 volunteer teams at 30 schools to support the 2024 National High School Graduation Exam, assisting over 9,700 candidates with 300 student volunteers. The resources mobilized for the 2024 summer youth volunteer campaign exceed 500 million VND.
To recognize these contributions, the Standing Committee of the Tra Vinh University Youth Union awards 114 certificates of merit to individuals and groups. This includes 60 individuals and two groups from the Exam Support Program, 44 full-time soldiers, and 8 groups from the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign.
