Tra Vinh University continues to shine in Global Sustainability Rankings
Tra Vinh University makes significant strides in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2024, securing the 133rd position out of 1,477 participating institutions. The university’s impressive performance solidifies its place in the top 200 environmentally sustainable global universities. This marks the fifth consecutive year the university has achieved this remarkable distinction, underscoring its unwavering commitment to sustainable development.
The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings is the pioneering global assessment of universities based on environmental sustainability criteria. Since 2010, this ranking system has evaluated educational institutions’ green initiatives and sustainable development investments, establishing itself as the most authoritative global benchmark for university sustainability.
In the 2024 rankings, Tra Vinh University improves from 139th in 2023 to 133rd, emerging as the second-ranked Vietnamese university among seven participating institutions. The evaluation relies on six primary criteria: infrastructure (15%), energy and climate change (21%), waste management (18%), water resources (10%), transportation (18%), and education research (18%). This year’s ranking introduces new indicators related to information and communication technology, reflecting the evolving comprehensive assessment methods.
Professor Dr. Nguyen Minh Hoa, the university’s rector, emphasizes, “This result demonstrates Tra Vinh University’s long-term commitment to global sustainable development goals. We remain dedicated to investing in green solutions, collaborating with international organizations, and continuously enhancing teaching and research quality.”
UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2024: A Global Sustainability Assessment
In its 15th year, the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings encompasses 1,477 educational institutions from 95 countries, establishing itself as the premier global university ranking system focused on sustainable development effectiveness.
The ranking methodology centers on surveying current policies and conditions related to sustainability efforts and improvements in educational institutions. Its primary objective is to engage university leaders and stakeholders in addressing global climate change, promoting clean energy, water conservation, waste recycling, green transportation, and advancing sustainability education and research.
This year’s theme, “Instituting UI GreenMetric: The Way Forward”, encourages broader participation from universities worldwide, contributing to a collective commitment to developing sustainable campus environments in the future.
