Striving to enhance the quality of local human resources in the Mekong Delta region and the whole country
Tra Vinh University, located in the core area of the Southwest region with a large population of Khmer ethnic people, established in June 2006, continuously makes efforts, solidarity in overcoming difficulties, and promoting its potential advantages. With the motto of “Bringing quality learning opportunities to the community,” TVU provides multi-disciplinary, multi-level training programs, creates favorable conditions for accessing an environment to enhance the level of education for the local, regional, and national area.
Currently, the university offers 10 doctoral programs, 25 master’s programs, 5 specialized programs at level I, 1 specialized program at level II, and 52 undergraduate programs. The university consists of two member schools and a Laboratory School, with over 13 faculties and institutes. The university is now offering 10 doctoral programs, 25 master’s programs, 5 specialized programs at level I, 1 specialized program at level II, and 52 undergraduate programs. It has more than 20,000 students from different localities across the country enrolled in various educational levels and programs. Since 2013, the university has been recruiting and accepting students from Cambodia for study, with many graduates returning to work in various localities within Cambodia. At present, the university hosts nearly 100 Cambodian exchange students.
Tra Vinh University develops with an applied orientation, incorporating the educational model of North American countries into the Vietnamese context, ensuring that students study in a dynamic, practical, and application-oriented environment. It is also developing cooperative training programs with businesses, designing and updating training programs closely linked to industry trends and new requirements. It actively publishes the results of scientific research in domestic and international journals, gradually developing a multi-lingual, multicultural, and internationally integrated training environment. It meets the quality assurance standards for educational institutions according to the new criteria set by the Ministry of Education and Training.

Last year, the university has achieved numerous accomplishments such as the introduction of new undergraduate programs and specialized programs at level I and level II. This has been coupled with efforts to enhance the quality of education and to undergo international quality assessment, adding three more education programs validated against domestic and international standards. With a total of 15 programs meeting the standards of AUN, ABET, and FIBAA international education, the university has become one of the institutions in the Mekong Delta region with the highest number of internationally accredited education programs.
Tra Vinh University has expanded its international cooperation, collaborating with over 90 partners, institutes, and universities across various continents and territories. It has also become the 151st member of the Canada Association of Community Colleges (CACC) and is now a member of Colleges and Institutes Canada (CiCan).
Promoting the spirit of scientific research, entrepreneurship, and innovation
The university always values the role of the youth and seeks to harness the power of young intellect. Students consistently receive dedicated support and guidance from researchers and professors when participating in scientific research. In addition, the university establishes a network connecting various units in research, entrepreneurship, and innovation to foster collaboration among students from different fields and faculties when working on projects.

In 2023, many research topics and entrepreneurial projects by students at the university receives awards at national competitions. The project “The impact of by-products for growing gray oyster mushrooms and supplementary materials on the development and productivity of straw mushrooms” win the Second Prize in the national science and technology competition. The project “Manufacturing Automatic Envelope Folding Equipment” win the Third Prize in the Student Intellectual Technology Competition. The “S2M Project – Leather from Mango Peel” win the Third Prize in the National Innovative Startup Ideas Competition. TVU students win the national Computer Science Olympiad in 2023, which was jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, the Vietnam Computer Society, and the Vietnam Students’ Association. Students of Tra Vinh University win Second and Third Prizes at the national science and technology competition in 2023.
TVU also collaborates with the Entrepreneurship Support Network in the Mekong Delta region to organize entrepreneurial idea competitions among students in the region. This is a useful playground that promotes scientific research, entrepreneurship, and innovation, while the university maintains a focus on building a supportive community for youth engaged in scientific research, entrepreneurship and innovation, assisting in their skill development and future direction, realizing their ideas and finding career paths in the future.

For four consecutive years, TVU has been ranked in the Top 200 Green Universities for sustainable development and significant contributions to society by the UI Greenmetric World University Rankings. In 2023, the university continued to climb the ranks, securing the 43rd position in the Top 100 universities with positive societal impact and contributions, entrepreneurial value and innovation, digital transformation and expanded collaboration, and international student exchange (up 19-place compared to 2022; up 28-place compared to 2021; up 43-place compared to 2020), as per the WURI Ranking 2023. For two consecutive years, Tra Vinh University has had the honor of receiving the Excellent Digital Transformation Award. |

Regarding the strong development of Tra Vinh University, Prof. Pham Tiet Khanh, Chairman of the Council emphasizes the support and collaboration from international partners, business communities, the efforts of generations of students, the collective dedication of staff, lecturers, specialized experts, scientists, and all laborers within the university, which have opened new doors, created opportunities, and sparked motivation for the sustainable development of the university.
The university consistently receives support and attention from the Ministry of Education and Training, as well as from central and local government departments. The direct and effective guidance from the Provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee of Tra Vinh Province, as well as the enthusiastic support from provincial departments, organizations, and local authorities.
Moreover, the rapid development of Tra Vinh University is closely linked to the profound vision and expectations of provincial leadership across different periods. Particularly, the 11th Provincial Party Congress Resolution continues to outline the construction of Tra Vinh University as an advanced university model.
