Tra Vinh University College of Engineering and Technology hosts technical exchange with international experts

On May 30, 2025, the College of Engineering and Technology at Tra Vinh University (TVU) welcomed a delegation of international experts for visits, working sessions, technical presentations and exchanges with faculty and students.

The expert delegation included Dr. David Nghiem, TMA Advisory Board Member and ILSA Niveless Founder, a specialist in wireless technology; Professor Christine Ehlig-Economides, Hugh Roy and Lillie Cranz Cullen Distinguished Professor and member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering; and Ms. Nguyen Vu Hong Hanh, Director of Talented Minds Agency (TMA).

From Tra Vinh University, Dr. Vo Phuoc Hung, Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology, attended the working session along with more than 50 students from Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Civil Engineering programs under the College of Engineering and Technology.

During the working session, Professor Christine Ehlig-Economides presented a technical topic titled “Skills, Strategies, and Success: Making the Leap from Academia to the Oil and Gas Industry.” The content focused on essential skills, career development strategies and practical lessons to help students prepare for the industrial environment, particularly in the oil and gas sector. She emphasized the importance of comprehensive skill development and adaptability for success in the globalization context.

Continuing the program, Dr. David Nghiem shared TMA’s innovation activities, emphasizing the role of developing viable startup ideas. He guided participants on researching existing patents and copyrights to avoid duplication and increase practicality, while introducing TMA’s support services including idea potential assessment, project funding support, product marketing and intellectual property protection.

After the presentations, the expert delegation participated in an exchange session, sharing practical experiences and answering questions from faculty and students on topics including career guidance, creative skills, intellectual property, and opportunities to participate in research projects and high-tech applications in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Integrated Circuits (IC).

Speaking at the working session, Dr. Vo Phuoc Hung expressed deep gratitude to the expert delegation for their practical and valuable insights. Dr. Vo Phuoc Hung emphasized that the program helps enhance faculty and student capabilities and inspires innovation while promoting training and research quality at TVU.

Through the working session, faculty and students gained valuable knowledge, expanded their career perspectives, enhanced professional skills and received strong motivation to assert themselves in academic environments and the global job market.
