TVU – From April 26 to May 9, 2024, a delegation from Tra Vinh University attends the Annual Conference of Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) and works with partners in Canada.
The delegation is led by Prof. Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, Chair of Tra Vinh University Council, Chair of Vietnam Association of Colleges and Universities, accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Hoa, Rector of Tra Vinh University, and representatives from the International Cooperation Office to attend the Annual Conference of CICan (Colleges and Institutes Canada). At the conference, the university works with partners such as Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Marine Institute, and CICan leaders on opportunities for project collaboration, funding proposals, and student and research exchanges.
At the conference the university also participates as a speaker at the Canada-Asia Pacific Cooperation Forum, sharing experiences in linking businesses and training through the program development model with business participation learned from Canada. Joining Tra Vinh University at the forum are Ms. Sarantogos Erdenetsogt, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to Canada, Mr. Paul Thoppil, Regional Trade Representative for Asia Pacific, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Be, Managing Director of the Canada-ASEAN Business Council in Canada.
On the occasion, on May 1, 2024, Tra Vinh University signs a new cooperation agreement with Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) in the fields of scientific research, student and faculty exchanges while opening up learning and research opportunities for lecturers and students with potential funding sources in Canada.
On the afternoon of May 1, 2024, the delegation visits and works with the government of the province of Newfoundland Labrador on cooperation opportunities and potential twinning between the two provinces. Ms. Doriann Macmillan – Associate Deputy Minister and Mr. Mark Janes, Assistant Deputy Minister of Trade Policy, Government of Newfoundland Labrador, receive the delegation. Both sides agree to continue discussions and sign a cooperation agreement as soon as possible.
Simultaneously, the delegation visits and works with the Marine Institute, a traditional partner of the university since 2001, which supported the university throughout the implementation of the Vietnam-Canada Community College Project (2001 – 2006).
On May 3, 2024, TVU visits and re-signs a memorandum with Carleton University, a university in the capital city of Ottawa, offering 50 majors at various levels in the areas of scientific research, training cooperation, faculty and student exchanges, and collaboration on research projects.
Additionally, TVU’s delegation visits and works with Concordia University in Montreal, a university with nearly 50,000 students. During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh exchanges with Dr. William Cheaib, Vice President of International Relations, about opportunities for cooperation activities and potential participation in the Concordia-Vietnam program soon.
