TVU – In a show of solidarity and community support, Tra Vinh University is stepping up to aid relief efforts in the wake of Typhoon No. 3 Yagi. On September 24, Dr. Thach Thi Dan and the Executive Committee of TVU’s Youth Union – Student Association present a substantial donation of 148,569,875 VND to the Youth Union and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tra Vinh.
The initiative, spearheaded by TVU’s Youth Union – Student Association, responds to the Tra Vinh Provincial Youth Union’s call for support in post-disaster recovery efforts. The fundraising campaign sees widespread participation from staff, students, and TVU’s Youth Union and Student Association members.
At the handover ceremony, Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice-Rector of TVU, expressed heartfelt sympathy for those affected by the typhoon. “This donation reflects the compassion of our university community,” she states, emphasizing TVU’s desire to contribute meaningfully during this challenging time.
Chairman Le Thanh Binh of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tra Vinh warmly receives the donation. He expresses gratitude to TVU’s staff and students, noting that this timely support will aid many families in overcoming difficulties and rebuilding their lives. Binh highlights that giving embodies the spirit of solidarity and underscores the university’s commitment to community support.
The fundraising effort, conducted from September 13 to 20, amasses a total of 148,569,875 VND from various units and students within the university. The entire amount is now being channeled through the Youth Union and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tra Vinh to assist typhoon and flood victims in Northern Vietnam in their recovery process.
Looking ahead, TVU plans to launch another fundraising initiative in October 2024. This upcoming drive will encourage everyone to donate the equivalent of one day’s salary to the “For the Poor” Fund in Tra Vinh, aiming to provide additional financial support to those affected by Typhoon No. 3.
TVU’s proactive response to the disaster demonstrates the institution’s commitment to social responsibility and community welfare, setting an example for other organizations in times of crisis.
