TVU – On the afternoon of December 3, 2024, at Tra Vinh University, the Forum “Innovation in the Mekong Delta: Inventors from Practice” took place with the participation of many experts, inventors, and business representatives. The event was organized by Tra Vinh University in coordination with the National Innovation Center (NIC), the Vietnam Invention Association, and partners, bringing practical and meaningful values to the Mekong Delta region.

The event was honored to welcome Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Invention Association and Director of the Institute for Invention Development and Technological Innovation, leaders, experts, inventors, representatives of businesses inside and outside the province, the Board of Directors of Tra Vinh University, and a large number of students of the University.

Speaking at the forum, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Diep Thanh Tung, Vice-Rector of Tra Vinh University, emphasized the importance of innovation in improving the quality of life and production efficiency. He said innovation must come from practice, meeting the community’s needs. Despite many difficulties, non-professional invention ideas from everyday life have opened up great creative opportunities.

“The forum is an opportunity to honor successful invention ideas and, at the same time, support new ideas from the early stage of forming. The companionship of experts, sponsors, and businesses will help these ideas develop, creating more useful application products, which is also the great goal of Tra Vinh University to promote community creativity,” said the Vice-Rector.

One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of inventions from “non-professional” inventors, introducing many unique and highly applicable inventions, such as the Wet Chili Salt Dryer that helps increase food processing efficiency, the High-capacity Garden Water Filter that improves irrigation efficiency, and the Automatic Shrimp Feeder that supports optimizing the shrimp farming process. In particular, products such as the 2-in-1 improved pineapple machine, the household waste treatment system, and IoT technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in seedling care have received special attention from experts and businesses.

In addition, the inventors shared inspiring stories about the journey from idea to practical product. The difficulties, challenges, and ways they overcame became valuable lessons motivating attendees, especially students and startups.

Mr. Huynh Van Be, the Ngoc Yen Dried Salt Production Facility owner, said: “We have seen great potential from the inventions at this forum, opening up valuable connection opportunities, serving the region’s sustainable development.” For students, Mr. Be shared many valuable experiences in his entrepreneurial journey and conveyed that “Everything can change in a positive direction; the problem is that we dare to recognize, dare to change, and have the conditions to change it.”

At the open discussion, delegates discussed innovative solutions in agriculture, aquaculture, waste treatment, and food processing industry. The forum not only stopped at introducing inventions but also created a space for connection, promoting cooperation between universities, research institutes, businesses, and inventors from the community.

To inspire the spirit of innovation and promote sustainable development, the forum contributes to orienting the role of the Mekong Delta in developing creative solutions closely linked to local realities. Experts emphasized that this is an essential step in solving challenges such as climate change and environmental pollution, as well as increasing the value of agricultural production.

The forum is essential in building an innovation ecosystem in the Mekong Delta, inspiring the spirit of creativity from real life. Through the forum, many inventors, businesses, and experts are connected and continue to perfect and deploy their inventions, promoting the development and application of breakthrough ideas in practice.

Tra Vinh University takes a significant step forward in technological advancement by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Vietnam Invention Association, specifically targeting collaboration in science, technology, intellectual property, and innovation.
