TVU – Tra Vinh University takes a pioneering step in student development by establishing the Five-Merit Student Network and hosting its first forum themed “Five-Merit Students – Beyond a Title” on October 27, 2024, bringing together colleges and universities across the Mekong Delta region.

The landmark event draws participation from prominent student leaders across the region, including Mai Hoa An, President of Bac Lieu University Student Association; Nguyen Pham Quoc Anh, Youth Union Secretary and Student Association President of Tay Do University; and representatives from Dong Thap Community College, Soc Trang Community College, and Ben Tre College.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Vice Secretary of Tra Vinh University’s Youth Union and Vice President of the Student Association, emphasizes in his opening remarks: “This event serves as a launching pad to elevate the Five-Merit Student movement in the Mekong Delta region, fostering collaboration and comprehensive student development aligned with the Five-Merit criteria.”

The forum features dynamic discussions with approximately 10 exchanges and inquiries from youth union members, promptly addressed by speakers, including student association leaders from various institutions and Vietnam Student Association Secretariat members. These experienced leaders share their personal journeys, from challenges to successes, in achieving the Five-Merit Student status.

“This forum creates a valuable platform for youth members to learn, network, and share strategies about becoming Five-Merit Students,” notes a university representative. “It provides participants with realistic insights and comprehensive perspectives on the journey through inspiring stories from our speakers.”

A highlight of the event is the signing ceremony establishing the Five-Merit Student Network, uniting seven student associations from colleges and universities in the region. This network aims to:

  • Foster collaboration between educational institutions
  • Share best practices in student development
  • Create opportunities for inter-institutional learning
  • Promote the Five-Merit Student movement across the Mekong Delta

This initiative reinforces Tra Vinh University’s commitment to fostering comprehensive student development and establishing regional educational partnerships. The Five-Merit Student Network represents a significant step toward enhancing student achievement and cooperation among higher education institutions in the Mekong Delta region.
