Tra Vinh University launches “The Voice TVU” competition 2024

TVU – On the evening of October 9, the preliminary round of “The Voice TVU” 2024 competition kicks off at Tra Vinh University. Organized by the Youth Union and Student Association of Tra Vinh University, the contest attracts over 200 high school and university students competing for top honors.

This event is part of the celebrations marking the start of the 2024-2025 academic year, commemorating the success of the 10th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Tra Vinh University for the 2024-2027 term, and celebrating the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (November 20, 1982 – November 20, 2024).

The competition is open to all full-time students at Tra Vinh University and high school students from across the province, aiming to discover and nurture musical talents.

Ms. Pham Le Phuong Thao, Standing Committee Member of the Provincial Youth Union and Secretary of the University’s Youth Union, states: “With the theme ‘Freestyle,’ the contest seeks to identify and cultivate students with singing talents, helping them develop confident stage performance skills and effective situational handling abilities. This nurtures their talents and provides opportunities to shine in both on and off-campus activities.”

During the preliminary round, contestants choose one song to perform, acapella, without instrumental accompaniment or microphones. The judging panel will select 40 outstanding contestants to advance to the blind audition round.

In the blind auditions, contestants perform a song with backing music for 2-3 minutes. Coaches can select up to 6 contestants for their teams. If only one coach turns, the contestant automatically joins that team. If multiple coaches turn, the contestant chooses their preferred coach.

Following the blind auditions, contestants from each coach’s team participate in the battle rounds. Here, two contestants from the same team perform a duet, with their coach selecting one to advance to the finals. Coaches can also “steal” one contestant from another team, allowing them to have four finalists.

In the finale, contestants perform a full song after rehearsing with their coach. Performances must include visual elements (using visual effects), with points deducted for those without. The contestant’s supporting unit assists with these visual elements as required.

The blind auditions are scheduled for October 12, 2024. The battle rounds take place on October 26, 2024, at Hall E21.105. The grand finale is tentatively set for November 16, 2024, at Lecture Hall D5, Campus 1, Tra Vinh University.
