TVU – Tra Vinh University marks another milestone in academic excellence as two faculty members receive recognition at the 2024 Science and Technology Awards ceremony at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education. The event, jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, and Vietnam Fund for Supporting Technological Creatives (VIFOTEC), celebrates outstanding achievements in academic research.
The competition attracts 47 research projects, nearly 100 scientific publications and technology transfers from young lecturers representing 29 universities across Vietnam, alongside 536 student projects from 95 national institutions. Research submissions span six key areas: natural sciences, engineering and technology, medical sciences, agricultural sciences, and social sciences.
In the young faculty category, the organizing committee awards 7 first prizes, 10 second prizes, 10 third prizes, and 18 encouragement prizes. Among student entries, 18 first prizes and 85 second prizes are distributed from the 106 finalists.
The success at Tra Vinh University comes through two faculty members from the School of Economics and Law – Master Ho My Dung and Master Nguyen Thi Phuong Uyen. They receive encouragement prizes for their research titled “Social Support, Stress, and Life Satisfaction of First-Year Students at Tra Vinh University.”
Master Ho My Dung, the project’s principal investigator, explains that the research aims to identify key components of social support, stress, and life satisfaction among students. “Our study employs qualitative and quantitative methods, surveying 599 first-year students from November to December 2020,” she says. “The findings help develop policy recommendations for Tra Vinh University and stakeholders to enhance student life satisfaction.”
The 2024 Science and Technology Awards program continues to demonstrate a vital role in recognizing academic excellence and encouraging scientific research among young faculty members and students across Vietnam’s higher education institutions. This recognition reinforces the commitment to fostering innovative research and academic development at Tra Vinh University.
