(TVU) – Following the faculty exchange program between Tra Vinh University and the Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) – Philippines, conducted by Dr. Jeff Verlit D. Arcipe and Dr. Leah Suano-Tinga in November 2024, the two institutions are successfully hosting their first Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) session on the morning of February 17, 2025, marking a significant step forward in international academic collaboration at TVU.

The session focuses on “Global Perspectives on Business and Management”. Three faculty members are leading it from both institutions: Dr. Vo Thi Diem Thuy, Vice Dean of the School of Management, TVU College of Economics and Law; Dr. Leah Suano-Tinga, Dean of the Faculty of Technology Education; and Dr. Jeff Verlit D. Arcipe, Head of the Department of Hospitality and Restaurant Management. The session also features the participation of nearly 30 students from TVU and PIT.

According to Dr. Vo Thi Diem Thuy, COIL is a promising and applicable teaching method that allows students to learn in an international environment. “Specifically, TVU students can interact and collaborate on assignments with their international peers. However, implementing this model requires significant preparation from faculty members,” she adds.

“We look forward to future collaboration opportunities and continuing this learning journey,” says Dr. Jeff.

COIL is an innovative teaching and learning model based on international collaboration and digital technology to connect faculty members and students from different countries. Beyond enhancing subject knowledge, COIL also helps students develop teamwork, critical thinking, and intercultural communication skills through collaborative learning projects with international peers.

As part of TVU’s internationalization strategy, COIL plays a crucial role in fostering global academic exchange opportunities for faculty and students of both institutions.
