(TVU) – Tra Vinh University’s Community Service Center partners with Ho Chi Minh City Odonto-Stomatological Association to provide free dental examinations and treatment for nearly 300 Tam Ngai commune, Cau Ke district, Tra Vinh province residents. The initiative takes place at Tam Ngai Primary School on November 10th.

More than 60 healthcare professionals participate in the program, including doctors from the Ho Chi Minh City Odonto-Stomatological Association, faculty members from TVU’s College of Medicine and Pharmacy (Dental Department), staff from Tra Vinh University Hospital, and dental students from both Tra Vinh University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

The medical team provides comprehensive dental care services, including oral health examinations, consultations, tartar removal, tooth extractions, fillings, and root canal treatments. They also offer guidance on proper dental hygiene practices to both residents and students.

“With our ongoing commitment to community service, this free dental care program has garnered significant public interest and local government support, helping to protect oral health, particularly for those facing economic hardships and students with limited healthcare access,” says Ms. Phung Thi Phuong Khanh, Director of Tra Vinh University’s Community Service Center.

One beneficiary, Ms. Le Thi Hong, who brings her child for treatment, expresses her appreciation: “The medical team provides attentive guidance to both my child and me, offering advice and instructions for daily dental care.”

Ta Minh Hieu, a fourth-year dental student who assists in treating patients, shares his enthusiasm: “We’re delighted to contribute to our youth and apply our academic knowledge to improve community oral health. This initiative meaningfully helps disadvantaged people in remote areas access dental services while raising awareness about daily oral hygiene habits.”

The program organizers distribute complimentary dental care packages, including toothbrushes and toothpaste donated by the Ho Chi Minh City Dental Association, to all participants receiving examinations, treatments, and consultations.
