Tra Vinh University provides relief to Ben Tre communities affected by saltwater intrusion

TVUIn solidarity with communities facing water scarcity due to saltwater intrusion, Tra Vinh University (TVU) extended a helping hand to residents of Tan Trung commune, Mo Cay Nam district, Ben Tre province.

On May 11th, the Tra Vinh University Trade Union, in collaboration with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tan Trung commune, presented much-needed fresh water to residents struggling with the effects of saltwater intrusion.

The donation includes 1,000 10-liter water bottles, 300 5-liter water bottles, and over 300 500-ml water bottles, all produced by Tra Vinh University’s Center of Science Research and Production Services (CSP). The Trade Union of Tra Vinh University raises and contributes the operating costs.

Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice Rector of Tra Vinh University, expressed the university’s commitment to supporting communities during this challenging time. She emphasized the hope that this initiative would help residents overcome the difficulties caused by drought and saltwater intrusion and rebuild their lives.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Rel, a resident of Tan Trung commune, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Tra Vinh University for the prompt assistance in providing clean drinking water and expressed hope for the university’s continued support in navigating the challenges brought on by the prolonged drought and saltwater intrusion.
