Tra Vinh University strengthens collaboration with MEET (USA) in medical education and research

TVU – On November 6, Tra Vinh University and Tra Vinh General Hospital welcome and work with experts from the Medical Education Exchange Team (MEET), USA. The visit marks another step in enhancing international cooperation in medical education, professional exchange, and research.

The MEET delegation includes Dr. Michelle Levy, Dr. Brian Levy, Tanner Erndt, Crystal Kim, and Karissa Bohn. Joining the event are representatives from major medical and health science institutions, including Dr. Vu Thi Huong Duyen – former Director and Head of the Emergency Department at Cho Ray Hospital, and Dr. Nguyen Minh Chau from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City.

From Tra Vinh General Hospital, participants include Dr. Ta Thanh Binh, Deputy Director; Dr. Do Cong Thuong, Head of Neurosurgery; Dr. Le Hoang Nha, Deputy Head of Neurosurgery; and MSc. Cu Bach My – Deputy Head of the Department of Quality Management and Social Affairs. MSc. Tran Thi Thanh Diem – Deputy Head of the Nursing Department represents the delegation from Tien Giang General Hospital.

Representing Tra Vinh University are Dr. Thach Thi Dan – Vice Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Diem – Director of the Center for Medical Human Resource Training under Social Needs; Dr. Thach Thi Kim Loan – Deputy Head of the Department of Natural Sciences at the University Hospital; Dr. Huynh Thi Hong Thu – Vice Dean of the College of Medicine and Pharmacy (CMP); and Dr. Nguyen Van Trung – Deputy Head of the Department of Nursing. More than 60 students from General Medicine and Nursing programs also join the event.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Thach Thi Dan emphasizes that the meeting provides a valuable opportunity for faculty, students, and local medical staff to gain international perspectives and experiences in healthcare, strengthening professional competence and improving the quality of medical training in Tra Vinh province.

Representing Tra Vinh General Hospital, Dr. Ta Thanh Binh expresses appreciation to the MEET experts and highlights the importance of international partnerships in applying modern treatment methods, ultimately improving healthcare services for the community.

      

During the session, MEET specialists present a range of advanced topics, including the role of nursing in acute stroke care and post-surgery recovery, the versatile effects of statins in treating chronic subdural hematoma, and modern emergency response models currently used in the United States. The team also engages in case discussions with doctors and nurses from Tra Vinh General Hospital, analyzing real clinical cases and sharing experience in post-surgery care and management. These discussions connect theory with clinical practice and allow local healthcare professionals to learn about updated medical procedures and treatment models.

The 2025 MEET Program serves as a meaningful academic forum that reinforces and expands the collaboration between Tra Vinh University and Tra Vinh General Hospital. Both institutions agree to continue developing joint activities in professional exchange, scientific research, and clinical training, aiming toward a sustainable and globally integrated model linking education, healthcare, and community service.
