Tra Vinh University strengthens educational ties with Samar State University through student exchange

TVU – Tra Vinh University recently concluded a successful student exchange program with Samar State University (SSU), Philippines, reinforcing its commitment to international cooperation in education. The closing ceremony took place on March 28, 2025, celebrating the achievements of the five-day exchange held from March 22 to 26. The program provided SSU students rich academic experiences and cultural immersion at Tra Vinh University.

Dr. Elmer Irene, Director of the SSU International Affairs Office, and eight SSU students actively engaged in the program attended the ceremony. Representing Tra Vinh University were Dr. Nguyen Huy Thong, Deputy Director of the Institute of International Education, leaders from various departments, program coordinators, and over 100 enthusiastic students.

Dr. Nguyen Huy Thong highlighted that student exchange initiatives are key in promoting global partnerships, improving training quality, and preparing students for international environments. He shared that the program delivers academic value and helps students expand their worldview, sharpen their skills, and shape future career paths. He expressed confidence that the collaboration between Tra Vinh University and SSU will continue to grow through mutual exchanges and joint research activities.

At Tra Vinh University, the SSU students participated in academic sessions, field visits, and cultural experiences. They explored the university campus and interacted with faculty and students from Education, Foreign Languages, Information Technology and Civil Engineering, Agriculture and Aquaculture. The schedule included a friendly football match and a workshop on academic and cultural cooperation led by Dr. Elmer Irene. The students also visited local areas such as Tra Vinh City, Con Chim, Hoa Minh, and Chau Thanh, gaining insights into regional life and culture. The closing ceremony featured vibrant cultural performances that celebrated the shared experiences.

Dr. Elmer Irene thanked the university’s leadership, staff, and students for their warm welcome and support. He looked forward to future collaborations, hoping the partnership will flourish in scale and impact.

At the end of the ceremony, the eight SSU students received Certificates of Completion. This exchange marks an important step in building deeper educational and cultural links between the two universities, contributing to higher training quality and nurturing globally competent graduates.
