TVU – Tra Vinh University (TVU) continues to make waves in national academic competitions with remarkable linguistic prowess. On November 23, 2024, a talented student from Tra Vinh University secures an Encouragement Award at the National Chinese Speech Contest in Da Nang.
Vo Thi Mong Cam, a Chinese Language student from Tra Vinh University, distinguishes herself among over 250 high-quality entries from 40 universities, academies, and Chinese language centers across 18 provinces and centrally-governed cities. Her exceptional performance propels her into the top 32 contestants who advance to the final round in Da Nang.
The competition, organized by the Da Nang City Union of Friendship Organizations, the Vietnam-China Friendship Association, the Chinese Consulate General in Da Nang, Duy Tan University, and the University of Foreign Languages – Da Nang University, in collaboration with VTV8, focuses on a compelling theme: “The Role of Young Vietnamese Generations in Promoting Vietnam-China Friendship.”
Tra Vinh University’s participation highlights the institution’s commitment to international language skills and cross-cultural understanding. This marks the third consecutive year that TVU students have participated in and achieved recognition in the competition.
Mong Cam, representing the Chinese Language Program within TVU’s College of Khmer Southern Languages, Culture, Arts, and Humanities, describes the experience as transformative. “This is my first national-level competition,” she shares, “and standing on the same stage with 31 contestants from across the country is an incredible opportunity for learning and growth.”
The competition aims to underscore the significance of youth in nurturing traditional friendship between Vietnam and China, particularly as the countries approach the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations in January 2025.
For Tra Vinh University, Mong Cam’s achievement is more than just an individual success—it represents the institution’s dedication to developing globally competitive, multilingual students who can bridge cultural divides.
Mong Cam expresses gratitude to the university leadership, her teachers, and peers who supported her journey, acknowledging their role in her remarkable accomplishment.
