Tra Vinh University students win GVB Prize 2025 startup competition in London

TVU – On June 15, 2025, the GVB Prize 2025 Startup Competition took place in London, United Kingdom, as part of the Global Vietnam Business Festival 2025 theme “Green Transformation and Digital Transformation.” HaMy Academy (United Kingdom) and KAmedia organized the event with the National Startup Support Center for Innovation (NSSC – Ministry of Science and Technology).

The GVB Prize 2025 Startup Competition provides opportunities for young Vietnamese startups, helping creative ideas from Vietnam reach the world and connect with international investors to explore funding opportunities and expand cooperation networks. As global trends toward green transformation and digitalization increase worldwide attention, the competition is an essential platform for Vietnamese startup projects to develop and establish their position in the international market.

This year’s competition attracted 146 applications from 5 countries and consisted of three rounds: Preliminary, Selection, and Semi-final. The “Straw wood – Artificial wood from straw” idea from Tra Vinh University successfully advanced through all rounds, becoming one of the Top 3 GVB Startups 2025 and officially participating in the final round in London.

During the final round, three teams presented their projects and answered questions from the judging panel and investors. The “Straw wood – Artificial wood from straw” idea by team members Son Tran Minh Man, Nguyen Xuan Thanh, and Nguyen Thi Thuy Duong won the championship.

Nguyen Xuan Thanh, the team representative who traveled to London, England, shared: “Conquering the highest position in the competition brings immense pride to our team. This victory represents more than just a project win – it demonstrates Tra Vinh University students’ creativity and relentless efforts in developing sustainable solutions. We hope the project will continue to develop and find practical applications to contribute to environmental protection and green industrial development in Vietnam and worldwide.”

The achievement of the Tra Vinh University team at the GVB Prize 2025 represents more than just a creative competition victory. It demonstrates Vietnamese students’ entrepreneurial and innovative capabilities, contributing to developing the green materials industry and creating sustainable solutions.
