TVU – Tra Vinh University demonstrates its growing international influence as it co-organizes the Fifth International Conference on Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development (IPOVCON 2024) in collaboration with Philippine universities. The conference, taking place on October 16-17, 2024, in Tacloban City, Leyte Province, Philippines, brings together 110 researchers from various countries worldwide.

School members and researchers from Tra Vinh University present their findings through virtual presentations, showcasing the institution’s commitment to community development research, one of its core strengths. A standout presentation features research on “Enhancing Giant Freshwater Prawn Farming Efficiency in Rice Fields in the Mekong Delta” by the university’s School of Agriculture and Aquaculture. Dr. Huynh Thi Kim Huong, Vice Dean, and Dr. Le Truc Linh, Dean, are leading this presentation, which draws significant attention due to the climate change similarities between Vietnam and the Philippines.

Another notable contribution comes from Master’s degree holder Dr. Pham Tuan Huy, Vice Dean of the School of Odonto-Stomatology, who presents research on dental caries prevention and oral health care guidance for elementary school students in Tra Vinh City. The project, benefiting over 8,000 students across 17 schools, highlights Tra Vinh University’s dedication to community health initiatives.

The university also presents two studies on English language teaching using the COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) model. Dr. Chau Thi Hoang Hoa, Head of Project Promotion, and MA. Nguyen Duong Thu Nguyet from the International Training Institute share their findings on online faculty, student exchanges, and cross-observation practices for English teachers.

This marks Tra Vinh University’s third international conference co-organization in 2024, utilizing a hybrid format combining in-person and virtual presentations. The event underscores the university’s commitment to academic excellence and professional development, facilitating valuable knowledge exchange between its faculty and regional researchers.
