Tra Vinh University supports resilient students with 120 million VND in scholarships

TVU – In a heartwarming display of support for determined students, Tra Vinh University (TVU) awards scholarships totaling over 120 million VND to students who have overcome significant challenges. The awards ceremony takes place during the welcoming event for the Class of 2024 on September 16.

Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice Rector of TVU, presides over the event, joined by representatives from the Youth Union, Student Association, benefactors, businesses, and faculty members from various schools and departments within the university.

In her address, Dr. Dan expresses gratitude to domestic and international businesses and sponsors who support TVU’s mission to aid students facing difficult circumstances. She encourages the recipients to strive for academic excellence and congratulates all new students admitted for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The scholarship program features several notable awards: The Vivian Ann Johnston and Lasqueti Island Scholarship (Canada) sponsors two students with projects contributing to environmental protection; The Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) – Tra Vinh Branch provides scholarships; The “University Dream 100” scholarship program offers additional support; Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank – Tra Vinh Branch donates 20 stone benches for student use.

    

Tran Thi Be Quyen, a third-year Accounting student and scholarship recipient, expresses gratitude on behalf of all awardees. “These valuable scholarships allow us to study with peace of mind,” she says. “We will do our best to meet the expectations of our teachers and sponsors.”

The event also features diverse performances celebrating Vietnamese culture and patriotism, with over 1,000 students in attendance. Popular singer My My makes a special appearance, adding to the festive atmosphere.

This scholarship ceremony is part of TVU’s larger Cultural Festival welcoming new students, which includes 17 music competitions, 4 dance competitions, and 6 fashion shows. The festival provides a platform for students to showcase their creativity, personality, and passions while fostering a vibrant, competitive atmosphere across the university.
