Tra Vinh University unites to support Vietnam’s national team in ASEAN Cup finals

TVU students and staff gather in massive numbers at Campus 1’s Hall D5 to watch Vietnam face Thailand in the first leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup finals at Viet Tri Stadium, Phu Tho.

    

A large number of students and lecturers from Tra Vinh University, on the evening of January 2, gather at Hall D5, Campus 1, to cheer on the Vietnam National Football Team in the first leg of the ASEAN Football Championship 2024 finals held at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho).

The Vietnam team previously defeated Singapore with an aggregate score of 5-1 over two legs in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, defending champion Thailand advanced to the finals with a dramatic 4-3 aggregate win against the Philippines.

Before kick-off, the passionate support from fans serves as a significant source of motivation for the Vietnam National Football Team as they aim to claim their third ASEAN Cup title after a six-year wait.

As the referee’s whistle signals the start of the match at precisely 8:00 PM, thousands of fans from Tra Vinh University pour their hearts into supporting the Vietnam team, who are playing at Viet Tri Stadium.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union and Vice President of the Student Association of Tra Vinh University states that to meet the wishes of students and lecturers, the university leadership decided to organize a live broadcast of the ASEAN Cup 2024 finals at Hall D5, the largest hall on campus with a capacity of over 1,000 people. “Additionally, the match is being displayed on a 500-inch LED screen for a detailed viewing experience,” he says.

 

The ASEAN Football Championship final between Vietnam and Thailand has drawn tremendous anticipation from fans. Many TVU supporters arrived at Lecture Hall D5 well before the match, creating a lively and energetic atmosphere.

They wear Vietnam flag T-shirts and bring banners and slogans into the hall, ready to ignite the Vietnam team’s spirit. Many share comments and best wishes to cheer on the national team during the final.

Nguyen Thi My Duyen, a Business Administration class 2022 student, expresses her excitement: “When I heard that the match would be streamed at Hall D5, my friends and I were thrilled to join the cheering. I believe that in the upcoming match, the Vietnam National Football Team will bring the championship trophy home for their fans.”

The second leg of the ASEAN Cup 2024 final between Thailand and Vietnam will occur at 8:00 PM on January 5 at Rajamangala Stadium (Thailand). The match will continue streamlining at Hall D5 at Tra Vinh University.
