Tra Vinh University visits Southern Leyte State University, Philippines

From July 13 to July 17, 2013, the delegation of Tra Vinh University (TVU) led by Mr. Tran Hoan Kim, Chairman of Advisory Committee and Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Vice Rector paid a visit to Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), Philippines.

Certificate of Recognition for Strategic Partner awarded to SLSU in the two universities’ pleasure and honor

TVU delegation was honourably welcomed by Dr. Gloria M. Reyes, SLSU President. At the meeting, TVU awarded the Certificate of Recognition for Strategic Partner to SLSU on the basis of similarity, cooperation desire and permanent trust between SLSU and TVU. The relationship between the two universities has been established since 2009 and this collaboration is to expand SLSU’s program of Master in Management in TVU. Along with this program, other cooperative areas involving the exchange of faculties, students and publication; holding international workshops and expanding SLSU’s academic programs to Vietnam and TVU’s ones to Philippines have been implemented and discussed.

Closing the meeting, Dr. Gloria M. Reyes and Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung expressed their goodwill for developing the cooperative activities to be more diversified and effective.

Southern Leyte State University (SLSU)

SLSU is a public university in the Philippines. It is mandated to provide advanced education, higher technological, professional instruction and training in trade, fishery, agriculture, forestry, science, education, commerce, engineering and related courses. It is also mandated to undertake research and extension services, and provided progressive leadership in its areas of specialization. Formerly the Southern Leyte State College of Science and Technology, SLSU was converted through the passage of Republic Act 9261 on March 7, 2004. SLSU is the only college university in the province of Southern Leyte.

Tra Vinh University (TVU)

TVU was Tra Vinh Community College (TVCC) which was established in 2001 under Vietnam Canada Community College Project. TVU has been upgraded from TVCC since 2006. There are 11 faculties and over 20,000 students. TVU offers multilevels including articulation courses and variety of flexible learning. Its mission is to provide skilled human resource and applied research.
