TVU – Tra Vinh University and the University of Lampung (Unila) in Indonesia forge a new partnership on September 27, signing a memorandum of cooperation to develop academic programs and scientific research.
The Unila delegation includes Prof. Dr. Lusmeilia Afriani, Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayi Ahadiat, Vice-Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information and Communication Technology; Dr. Kuswanta Futas Hidayat, Dean of the School of Agriculture; and Prof. Dr. Purnomo, Deputy Head of the Department of Academic Affairs.
Representing TVU are Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice Rector; Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Khanh, Head of the Department of International Collaboration; Dr. Nguyen Huy Thong, Deputy Director of the Institute for International Education; and Dr. Huynh Kim Huong, Deputy Head of the School of Agriculture and Aquaculture.
Dr. Thach Thi Dan expresses enthusiasm at the signing ceremony for the Unila leadership’s visit and the new partnership. She highlights the memorandum’s focus on curriculum development, scientific research, and exchange programs for lecturers and students.
Dr. Dan notes TVU’s history of international cooperation, particularly within ASEAN, citing shared cultural, educational, economic, and social characteristics. “This memorandum opens up numerous collaboration opportunities for faculty and students of both institutions,” she states. “It will foster high-quality international education and research programs, contributing to realizing the ASEAN community’s three pillars: Political-Security, Economic, and Socio-Cultural.”
The initial focus of the collaboration will be on agriculture and aquaculture. A student and faculty exchange program is set to launch in January 2025. Both universities also plan to promote short-term exchange programs and academic-cultural exchanges among their students soon.
