The appraisal conference for the book “Design Thinking – An Effective Tool for Innovation” was held on November 15 at the Vinh Long Business Incubator, with the participation of experts and scholars, aiming to refine and enhance the quality of the book’s content, ensuring scientific rigor, practical relevance, and ease of application.
The Appraisal Council consisted of leading experts from universities and startup support organizations, including: Chair of the Council Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung – Vice Rector of the TVU College of Economics and Law and Director of the International Education Institute (IEI); Vice Chair of the Council Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Huong Lan – Director of the Institute of Innovation and Digital Transformation, University of Finance and Marketing; Council Member Mr. Le Thanh Hai – Faculty of Economics – Culture, Arts and Tourism, Tra Vinh Vocational College; Reviewer Mr. Le Nhat Quang – Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, Vietnam National University HCMC, Vice Chair of the Vietnam Network of Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Colleges and Universities (VNEI); Council Member Ms. Truong Thi Thuy Tien – Deputy Director of the Center for Services, Corporate Partnerships and Entrepreneurship, Thu Dau Mot University.

Representing the editorial team, Mr. Nguyen Van Vu An, Chief Editor of the book, presented a summary report on “Design Thinking – An Effective Tool for Innovation,” emphasizing the book’s objective of providing both foundational and in-depth knowledge of Design Thinking to promote innovation. The book is structured into five chapters, with core content focusing on a detailed guide to the five-stage Design Thinking process: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test.
The Appraisal Council focused on evaluating the scientific validity and practical applicability of the book’s content, particularly its potential for effective implementation in local startup ecosystems and enterprises, to refine the manuscript before publication.
During the in-depth discussion session, the Council provided feedback on the citation of reference materials, emphasizing the need to ensure scientific credibility, reliability, and compliance with intellectual property regulations. Special attention was given to the case studies, with recommendations for greater diversity and an emphasis on incorporating local success and failure cases in innovation and entrepreneurship in Vinh Long Province and the Mekong Delta region to enhance practicality and inspiration.
In addition, the Council carefully reviewed the book’s visual elements, layout, and title, ensuring that they accurately reflect the academic content while remaining engaging to readers. Feedback was also provided on color schemes and typography to ensure professionalism, readability, and alignment with the creative nature of the Design Thinking methodology.
The conference played a significant role in preparing a valuable publication that promotes the Design Thinking approach, thereby contributing to innovation development and enhancing the competitiveness of Vinh Long Province and surrounding regions.
