The Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union organized on December 7 the National Volunteer Awards and the National Creative Youth Awards as part of the Vietnam Youth Festival 2025 at Di An Square (Ho Chi Minh City), gathering outstanding groups and individuals representing the country’s youth volunteerism and innovation movements.
The event featured Mr. Le Quoc Phong, Member of the Party Central Committee and Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Mr. Bui Quang Huy, First Secretary of the Central Youth Union; Mr. Nguyen Tuong Lam, Secretary of the Central Youth Union and President of the Vietnam Youth Federation; Mr. Ngo Minh Hai, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union and President of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Youth Federation; along with other leaders from central and Ho Chi Minh City agencies.

In his remarks, Mr. Nguyen Tuong Lam emphasized that Politburo Resolution 57/NQ-TW has opened up a broad development landscape for the young generation, creating opportunities for them to leverage their intellect, creativity, and pioneering spirit in science and technology, innovative entrepreneurship, and the digital economy. This year’s award-winning projects, models, and initiatives vividly reflect that spirit, offering solutions in digital transformation, green economy, circular economy, and environmental protection—affirming the creative capacity of Vietnamese youth.
This year, the Organizing Committee received 204 nominations for the National Creative Youth Awards from 31 provincial and municipal Youth Unions and affiliated units. 20 outstanding groups and individuals have been selected for the National Volunteer Awards.
Among the 43 distinguished creative projects, solutions, and products honored with the 2025 National Creative Youth Awards, a team of TVU students earned recognition with their project “Strawwood – Artificial Wood from Rice Straw”. The innovative product was developed by students Son Tran Minh Man, Nguyen Xuan Thanh, and Nguyen Thi Thuy Duong, members of the university’s Startup Club.

The project previously won First Prize in the “Startup Ideas for Tra Vinh University Students” competition in 2024. It has since been presented at numerous domestic and international competitions and has attracted significant interest from investors.
The product addresses the issue of agricultural waste by creating a highly sustainable material. Artificial wood made from rice straw is environmentally friendly, durable, and applicable across construction and furniture manufacturing industries.

In addition, the “Strawwood – Artificial Wood from Rice Straw” project also claimed the championship title at the GVB Prize 2025 Startup Competition, held as part of the Global Vietnam Business Festival 2025 under the theme “Green Transformation and Digital Transformation.” The competition was organized in London, United Kingdom, by HaMy Academy (UK) and KAmedia in collaboration with the Vietnam National Startup Support Center (Ministry of Science and Technology).
Sharing his feelings upon receiving the 2025 National Creative Youth Award, student Son Tran Minh Man said: “This is a great encouragement for us to continue pursuing innovations, open up new prospects for emerging materials, enhance environmental friendliness, reduce CO₂ emissions, and efficiently use recycled resources.”
The presence and achievements of Tra Vinh University students at this year’s award ceremony continue to affirm the role of youth in promoting innovation and further highlight the creative spirit of the TVU student community.
This recognition serves as motivation for TVU students to continue nurturing creativity, proactively engage in technical research, digital transformation projects, and initiatives that deliver practical value to society.
The National Creative Youth Award is an annual award organized by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to honor innovative scientific, technical, economic, social, startup, digital economy, and technological application projects developed by Vietnamese youth. It aims to encourage bold thinking and decisive action that contribute to national socio-economic development.
