TVU – In collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, the Ministry of Education and Training holds on November 10 the closing and award ceremony for the 2023 Science and Technology Award for Students in Higher Education Institutions at the University of Da Nang, University of Education and Technology.
The Award for students of higher education institutions is organized from August to November 2023 by the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Association (Vietnam Fund for Supporting Technological Creations — VIFOTEC), and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee.
According to the organizing committee of the event, 481 projects from individuals and groups of students from 103 higher education institutions across the country have been submitted for this year’s award, and 85 of them have been chosen to take part in the final round taking place at Da Nang University from November 8 to November 10.
Seven evaluation councils have been established, including 49 distinguished scientists, experts, and lecturers in the fields of natural science (09 projects), technological science (17 projects), medical and pharmaceutical science (07 projects), agricultural science (05 projects), social science (43 projects), and human science (04 projects).
At the ceremony, the organizing committee awards 16 first prizes, 68 second prizes, 106 third prizes, and 164 consolation prizes to excellent projects from higher education institutions.
In particular, with their project “Effects of gray oyster mushroom by-products and substrate supplements on the growth and yield of straw mushrooms” in the field of Agricultural Science, the group of Bui Dang Khoa (from the 2019 Biotechnology Class), Tran Hoang Nhan, and Phan Ngoc Hai (from the 2019 Agriculture Class ) wins the Second Prize.
The project has been published in an international Q3 journal in Scopus as well as the Vietnam Journal of Agricultural Science and Technology. Additionally, it took home second place in the Agriculture and Aquaculture category in the 2022 Mekong Delta Student Research Conference.
The group of Nguyen Thi Huynh Nhu and Bui Thi Kieu An, students of the E-commerce class of 2019, receives the third prize for their Social Science project, “The impact of electronic word of mouth on consumers’ intention to purchase food via social networks in Tra Vinh City.”
The topic has been published in the Vietnam Trade and Industry Review and the Asia-Pacific Economic Review. In the Mekong Delta Scientific Research Conference, it was awarded third place as well.
The leader of the Second Prize-winning team, student Bui Dang Khoa, describes the Award as a true intellectual and scientific playground that draws in a lot of students and lays the groundwork for future advancements in Science and Technology. It helps satisfy the demand of the integration trend, bridge theory and practice, and promote socioeconomic growth for him and other students.
The Science and Technology Award aims to recognize exceptional accomplishments and motivate students to engage in scientific research, enhance training standards, and nurture the next generation of scientific talents in higher education institutions. Scientific research activities for students in higher education institutions are therefore encouraged, which inspires them to promote dynamism and innovation in both learning and scientific research. |
