Tzu Chi Charity in Vietnam offers 10 scholarships to students with difficult circumstances

TVU – On May 29th, 2023, Taiwan Tzu Chi Charity in Vietnam awards 10 scholarships with a total value of 124,742,000 VND to support tuition fees for the second semester of the academic year 2022-2023 to students with difficult circumstances at Tra Vinh University.

The scholarships are a part of the project “Tuition Assistance for Students of Tra Vinh University,” which is sponsored by the Buddhist Tzu Chi Charity Foundation. The project has been approved by the Chairman of the People’s Committee of Tra Vinh province.

At the scholarship awarding ceremony, Ms. Tran Thi Cam Quynh, Deputy Head of Tzu Chi Tra Vinh said, through these scholarships, she hopes to be able to share some of the difficulties to help students study well and firmly in the environmental university. In addition, spreading humanistic messages about the power of sharing, and the spirit of overcoming difficulties, thereby receiving more attention from the community and society

On behalf of the scholarship recipients, Nguyen Ngo Thanh Hang, a student from the Class of 2018, majoring in Dentistry, B-Batch expressed sincere gratitude for receiving these meaningful scholarships from the Tzu Chi Foundation, Thanh Hang said “The scholarship not only provides me with additional financial support for my studies but also serves as motivation and strength for me to strive harder and make progress in my academic pursuits and personal development.”

On behalf of Tra Vinh University, Dr. Thach Thi Dan, Vice-Rector expressed her deep gratitude to the Taiwan Tzu Chi Charity in Vietnam for their continuous support and accompany to Tra Vinh University in various activities, including providing assistance and caring for the student’s life and studies during the recent period she also expressed her hope that the scholarships would serve as additional motivation for the students to overcome challenges and continue pursuing their dreams.

It is known that the Tzu Chi Charity Organization in Taiwan, operating in Vietnam, has sponsored 22,400 face masks for officials and students at Tra Vinh University. This contribution aims to prevent and combat the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as provide financial assistance for living expenses and monthly supplies from November 2020 to the present, benefiting numerous students with a total budget of over 230 million VND. Additionally, the Tzu Chi Organization has supported the tuition fees for the first semester of the 2022-2023 academic year for 11 students at the university, with a total budget of 162,730,000 VND.
